Appearance
Tzintli Vrak is a lean, athletic mixed-skinned elf with short curly black hair, dark brown alert eyes, and a quietly defiant expression. He stands with his weight balanced on the balls of his feet, as though every patch of ground might become a firing position. His grooming is deliberate, with carefully trimmed curls, clean nails, and a habit of brushing snow from his coat even when no one else notices. He wears a snow-white and blue hunter’s coat with intricate woven patterns, a small shoulder capelet, fitted leather bracers, sturdy travel boots, and a leather quiver. A golden recurve longbow rests easily in his hand, while paired curved blades hang at his belt. A small carved icy focus is tied beneath his collar. Pale blue tracking sigils and snow-like motes gather around his arrows when he calls on his magic.
Mannerisms
When waiting, he leans slightly forward with one heel raised, scanning exits, wind direction, and the hands of everyone nearby. He rolls an arrow between his fingers while thinking, cleans his bowstring after difficult conversations, and answers questions with a brief glance toward the nearest trail before speaking.
Personality
Quietly defiant, observant, and dryly humorous. Tzintli speaks little in groups, but he notices every altered footprint, concealed weapon, and hesitation in someone’s voice. He is patient with frightened people and merciless toward predators who exploit them. He prefers practical kindness over comforting words.
Ideals
No one should disappear simply because powerful people find the truth inconvenient. Freedom means having the courage to investigate, disobey, and accept the consequences.
Bonds
The mixed frontier settlement that raised him is still vulnerable, and he sends part of every reward home. He also carries his father’s weather-stained field map, marked with the names of soldiers and travelers who vanished during the winter campaign.
Flaws
He assumes every official explanation has been polished to hide something important. When frightened or uncertain, he becomes controlling and starts issuing precise instructions to people who never asked for them.
Quirks
Background
Tzintli Vrak was born in a border settlement where elven trail-keepers, human caravan families, and displaced soldiers shared the same winter roads. His mother taught him to read tracks in thawing snow, while his father, a veteran scout, taught him that a battlefield and a forest were governed by the same rule: whoever noticed the change first usually lived. Tzintli grew up translating between communities that distrusted one another, learning maps, weather signs, old military codes, and the practical mathematics of an arrow’s flight. He joined a frontier regiment after a series of disappearances along the northern trade route. The army valued his sharp memory and unnerving patience, but Tzintli never became comfortable with orders that treated villages as expendable pieces on a map. During a winter campaign, he discovered that the disappearances were caused by a renegade arcanist using enchanted trail marks to redirect patrols and abduct travelers. Tzintli exposed the scheme, but his commanding officer concealed the truth to avoid political embarrassment. He left the regiment with his honor intact but his faith in institutions badly cracked. Now he works as a ranger, hunting threats that official reports prefer to call accidents, while searching for the arcanist who escaped into the high forests.
