Appearance
A lean wood elf with tawny skin, dark ash-brown hair cut to the jaw, and alert green eyes flecked with gold. A narrow scar crosses the left eyebrow, and small copper beads are braided into one side of the hair. Their plain scholar's robes are patched at the cuffs and stained with ink, while a weathered spellbook hangs from a leather harness beneath a gray traveling cloak.
Mannerisms
Tszeren pauses before answering difficult questions, silently tracing the shape of an invisible letter with one finger. When nervous, they organize nearby objects by size and mutter short observations about them.
Personality
Quietly intense and relentlessly curious, Tszeren listens more carefully than they speak. They are courteous to librarians, suspicious of confident improvisers, and happiest when surrounded by old paper, contradictory accounts, and a problem that can be solved with enough patience.
Ideals
Knowledge. Truth has value even when it is inconvenient, dangerous, or personally painful. Understanding the world is the first step toward protecting it.
Bonds
I carry my vanished mentor's final letter, and I will not rest until I learn whether they died, defected, or are still waiting for help.
Flaws
I become evasive and defensive whenever someone questions my mentor's disappearance, even when the evidence points somewhere I do not want to look.
Quirks
Background
Tszeren Vey was raised among an elven archive-house built into the roots of an ancient woodland, where generations of record keepers preserved maps, genealogies, star tables, and the names of things that no longer had bodies. Tszeren showed little natural brilliance as a child, but possessed a stubborn patience that made them willing to copy the same glyph hundreds of times until its meaning settled into memory. Their first true magical success was a flickering mote of light, summoned after an entire winter spent studying a damaged primer recovered from a caravan that had crossed the eastern steppe. As an apprentice sage, Tszeren became obsessed with a missing folio from the archive's oldest spellbook. The folio described a vanished observatory, somewhere beyond the forest, whose instruments supposedly measured not only the movement of stars but the passage of magic itself. When their mentor disappeared while pursuing the same trail, Tszeren inherited the mentor's sealed letter and unfinished notes. Now they travel as a novice wizard and researcher, gathering rumors in inns, temple libraries, and ruined watchtowers. Tszeren is determined to find the observatory, discover what happened to their mentor, and return the missing knowledge to the archive before it is twisted into a weapon.
