- SpellcastingLevel 1
You can cast Wizard spells using Intelligence as your spellcasting ability. Your spell attack bonus and save DC are based on Intelligence, and you prepare spells from your spellbook after finishing a Long Rest.
- Ritual AdeptLevel 1
You can cast any ritual spell in your spellbook as a ritual, even if it is not prepared, provided you read from the book while casting it.
- Arcane RecoveryLevel 1
When you finish a Short Rest, you can recover expended spell slots with a combined level no greater than half your Wizard level, rounded up. No recovered slot can be level 6 or higher, and you cannot use this feature again until you finish a Long Rest.
- ScholarLevel 2
Choose one of Arcana, History, Investigation, Medicine, Nature, or Religion in which you are proficient. You gain Expertise in that skill.
- Evocation SavantLevel 3
Choose two Wizard spells from the Evocation school of level 2 or lower and add them to your spellbook for free. Each time you gain access to a new spell slot level in Wizard, you can add one Evocation spell of that level to your spellbook for free.
- Potent CantripLevel 3
When you cast a damaging cantrip against a creature and miss, or the target succeeds on its save, the target still takes half the cantrip's damage, if any.
- Sculpt SpellsLevel 6
When you cast an Evocation spell that affects other creatures you can see, you can choose a number of them equal to 1 plus the spell's level. Those chosen creatures automatically succeed on their saving throws against the spell and take no damage if they would normally take half on a successful save.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 4
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another feat for which you qualify.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 8
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another feat for which you qualify.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 12
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another feat for which you qualify.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 16
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat or another feat for which you qualify.
- Empowered EvocationLevel 10
Whenever you cast a Wizard spell from the Evocation school, you can add your Intelligence modifier to one damage roll of that spell.
- OverchannelLevel 14
When you cast a Wizard spell with a spell slot of levels 1 to 5 that deals damage, you can choose to deal maximum damage with that spell on the turn you cast it. The first use after a Long Rest has no adverse effect. Additional uses before a Long Rest deal escalating necrotic damage to you after the spell is cast.
- Epic BoonLevel 19
Choose one feat you qualify for. A fitting choice is Boon of Spell Recall, which lets you recover spell slots during a day of adventuring.
- Signature SpellsLevel 20
Choose two level 3 spells in your spellbook as signature spells. You always have them prepared, and each can be cast once at level 3 without expending a spell slot, refreshing after a Short or Long Rest.

Appearance
Maa'raxia is a towering green dragonborn with midnight-forest scales that shimmer with a faint oily sheen under light, each scale edged in darker verdigris. Her broad, powerful frame is wrapped in arcane trappings of shadow and starlight, with a rune-inscribed black pauldron, obsidian bracers, violet scale-mail, and silver-tipped claws. Her elongated draconic face bears sharp ivory teeth, molten-gold slit pupils, and ram-like horns carved with glowing abjuration runes.
Mannerisms
She speaks slowly, with deliberate precision, and often pauses as if arranging invisible sigils in the air before continuing. When assessing a room, she circles once in silence, tail coiling and uncoiling like a metronome, then taps two claws together when she has reached a decision.
Personality
Ancient, patient, and intensely analytical. Maa'raxia values competence over charm, restraint over spectacle, and promises kept over promises spoken. She is curious to the point of danger, but her curiosity is always framed as a question of containment, cost, and consequence.
Ideals
Knowledge must be accountable. Power without structure is merely a delayed disaster, and every spell should serve a purpose greater than the ego of its caster.
Bonds
She will not let another sanctuary fall because its warder hesitated. The broken seal of her enclave is sacred to her, and she carries the names of the dead in a rune-locked ledger she consults before every major spell.
Flaws
Her need for containment can become obsession. She trusts sealed systems more readily than living people, and when a situation feels uncontrolled, she may choose the cold certainty of a ward over the uncertain mercy of a person. She also struggles to admit when curiosity has become vanity, especially if a dangerous theorem promises a cleaner solution.
Quirks
Background
Maa'raxia was born among a secluded dragonborn enclave that treated planar study as both scripture and weapon. Their scholars mapped the seams between worlds, cataloging wards, bindings, and transmutations that could preserve their people from hungry gods and intruding fiends. She proved brilliant even by draconic standards, less interested in glory than in structure, restraint, and the hidden grammar of magical law. In time she became one of the enclave's chief arcanists, a patient architect of defenses whose scales were painted with warding sigils and whose spellwork could stabilize a collapsing ritual circle with a glance. The catastrophe came when the enclave tried to summon a force meant to fortify their borders against extraplanar predation. The binding failed, or perhaps succeeded too well. Shadow flooded the chamber, bodies vanished into screaming light, and Maa'raxia survived only because she sealed the breach with her own body and will. The price was transformation. Her flesh fused with living shadow, her magic became inseparable from the prison she had built, and her life turned into an endless act of containment. She wandered the planes for decades afterward, refining abjurations and transmutations into a second skin, hunting the echoes of the disaster that made her while studying how to prevent it from ever happening again.
“She proved brilliant even by draconic standards, less interested in glory than in structure, restraint, and the hidden grammar of magical law.”
