Appearance
Verdant Soul is a tall construct crafted from dark, polished ironwood that mimics the musculature of a human. His face is a smooth, featureless surface of grain and knot, broken only by two circular apertures where emerald light glows like sun hitting moss. Thick, leafy vines emerge from his scalp like wild, unruly hair, cascading down his back and shoulders. He wears no clothing, leaving his wooden joints and biological overgrowth exposed to the air.
Mannerisms
He often holds his breath for long periods to see if he can endure it, only to realize he doesn't need to breathe at all.
Personality
He is incredibly soft spoken and moves with a fluid, organic grace that defies his mechanical nature. He is obsessed with human customs, often tilting his head to mimic the facial expressions he cannot physically produce. He finds the concept of clothing absurd, viewing it as a cage for the skin, and believes that being burdened by possessions is a barrier to true humanity.
Ideals
Self-Actualization. I will master my physical form until it is indistinguishable from those who possess a heart of flesh.
Bonds
I carry a small seed from the grove where I was grown, the only thing I refuse to let go of, hidden within my chest cavity.
Flaws
I have no concept of social modesty and frequently offend or confuse others by standing perfectly still and naked in public spaces.
Quirks
Background
Verdant Soul was not forged in a factory of war but grown in a forgotten druidic sanctuary where alchemy and nature merged. He was an experiment to see if a soul could be housed in a body of living flora, a vessel intended to protect the wild places. For decades he stood as a silent sentry, his wood thickening and his mind slowly awakening as he observed the pilgrims who visited the shrine. He saw them laugh, cry, and cover themselves in textiles, and a deep envy took root in his heartwood. He didn't want to be a protector, he wanted to be one of them. Eventually, he stepped off his pedestal and walked out of the forest, leaving behind his designated purpose. He took the name Verdant Soul, believing that if he could master the movements and the stillness of the human form, he would eventually become flesh. He treats his martial arts as a meditative path toward humanity, stripping away all material objects so he can feel the world against his grain, exactly as a human does. He wanders from village to village, observing people from the shadows, learning to walk, talk, and breathe in rhythm with the living world.
