Appearance

Malkizara is a tall, obsidian-skinned drow woman with silver-white hair worn in a long, segmented braid. Her crimson eyes are steady and unnervingly calm. She wears fitted leather armor beneath layered robes of wine red, saffron, and black, with the sleeves cut unevenly so her left arm remains bare from shoulder to fingertips. Fine ritual scars form a spiderweb pattern around her left wrist. Her curved scimitar hangs at her hip, while a slender whip coils beneath her sash. Her movements are graceful, economical, and almost devotional.

Mannerisms

Malice keeps her left arm exposed regardless of weather or danger. Before drawing a weapon, she slowly flexes the fingers of that hand as if greeting an invisible spider. She speaks softly to enemies, often addressing them as though they have already died.

Personality

Malice is quiet, observant, and intensely formal. She treats combat as a sacred performance, believing that a beautiful victory is one in which the enemy understands too late that they were never in control. She is patient with the frightened, contemptuous toward the boastful, and unexpectedly gentle with spiders. Beneath her disciplined exterior lies a desperate need to remain useful to the goddess who gave her a new identity.

Ideals

Devotion. A blade has no right to question the hand that wields it. My life has meaning only when it advances the will of Lolth.

Bonds

Lolth is not merely Malice's goddess. She is her mother, purpose, and only true belonging. Malice will recover any relic, secret, or living servant that strengthens Lolth's influence, even if doing so requires her to destroy an entire drow house.

Flaws

Malice cannot accept that Lolth might be silent, mistaken, or indifferent. She interprets every setback as a test and every act of cruelty as potential divine instruction. She is also incapable of leaving an insult unanswered, especially if an enemy touches or mocks her exposed arm.

Quirks

She leaves a single strand of black thread at the scene of every important kill.
She names each weapon after a dead enemy, but never speaks those names aloud.
She refuses to crush spiders, even when they crawl across her bedroll.
She tests food with the tip of a blade before eating, regardless of who prepared it.

Background

Malkizara Travra was born Aurelia Travra, a daughter of one of Menzoberranzan's lesser noble houses. Her future was arranged before she could speak. She was trained to become a priestess of Lolth, taught that obedience was the purest form of devotion and that failure was an invitation to be broken. Yet the more she learned, the more she understood that the priestesses served their own ambitions as often as they served the Spider Queen. Aurelia began studying the spaces between commands, the half-seen hand behind every ritual, and the value of striking before an enemy realized a contest had begun. During a night of punishment beneath the city's web-choked catacombs, a swarm of pale spiders descended upon her. They crawled over her face, her exposed arm, and her ceremonial blade without biting. In the darkness, Aurelia heard what she believed to be Lolth's voice, not as thunder, but as a mother's whisper beneath silk. The spiders marked her wrist, and the next morning every superior who had intended to discipline her lay dead in their chambers, each killed by a different hidden wound. Aurelia abandoned her birth name and House Travra, taking the name Malice as a vow. She now walks the surface as Lolth's chosen blade, using a corrupted doctrine of samurai discipline called the Way of the Black Widow. She sells her skills when necessary, gathers secrets through the criminal underworld, and believes every betrayal is merely another thread in her goddess's design.
