Appearance
Aldraz is a tall, silver-scaled dragonborn with a broad-shouldered, sturdy build and a long glaive that makes him seem even larger at a distance. His scales have a muted steel sheen, dulled by travel dust rather than polished for ceremony. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice his posture. He stands with one foot slightly forward and both hands resting loosely over the butt of his glaive, as though every conversation is also a watch shift. In crowded rooms, his eyes move constantly toward doors, windows, and the hands of strangers. He wears practical chain mail beneath a green-trimmed traveling cloak, and a small wooden token from his home village hangs at his throat.
Mannerisms
When waiting, Aldraz rests both hands over the butt of his glaive and shifts his weight onto the balls of his feet. He watches exits before faces, lowers his head slightly when listening, and speaks more softly when he is angry rather than raising his voice.
Personality
Aldraz is patient, courteous, and intensely practical. He treats farmhands, merchants, priests, and nobles with the same deliberate respect, but he becomes quietly immovable when someone is threatened. He prefers useful questions to grand speeches, and he remembers the names of people who serve food, mend roads, or keep watch through the night.
Ideals
Protection. Strength has meaning only when it is used to shield those who have less of it. The smallest village deserves the same courage that protects a king's hall.
Bonds
The people of his home village trusted him when they had no reason to believe one young warrior could save them. He will never allow that village, its families, or the old bridge he defended to be abandoned to danger.
Flaws
Aldraz is slow to forgive anyone who preys upon the weak, and his anger can make him mistake punishment for justice. He also has a deep discomfort with retreat. When others depend on him, he would rather risk his life than admit that a fight cannot be won today.
Quirks
Background
Aldraz Dova Imerios was born in a small farming settlement where silver dragonborn were uncommon enough to become the subject of every winter tale. His mother taught him the old stories of silver dragons who protected the helpless, while his father taught him that a promise was worth more than a full purse. Aldraz grew into a strong, watchful youth, often serving as a guide between scattered homesteads and the nearby market town. He learned the glaive from an aging caravan guard who claimed that the weapon was useful because it could keep danger at a respectful distance without surrendering control of the road. His reputation as a folk hero began when a band of raiders descended on the village during a harsh spring. Aldraz rallied farmers, mill workers, and shepherds into an organized defense, using irrigation ditches and grain carts to turn the settlement into a maze the raiders could not easily cross. He held the bridge long enough for the villagers to evacuate, then pursued the raiders until they abandoned their stolen supplies. The story grew in the telling, as such stories do, but the truth was enough. A traveling priest saw in Aldraz the makings of a paladin and offered him training in courage, mercy, and disciplined service. Aldraz now travels to protect those who cannot protect themselves, believing that one day he will swear an Oath of the Ancients and become a living guardian of the light, the wild, and the ordinary people whose songs first gave him a name.
