Appearance
Kylaar is a lean, long-limbed tabaxi with smoky gray fur, cream-colored markings around the muzzle, and bright amber eyes that seem permanently halfway between suspicion and sleepiness. Their ears are nicked from old rooftop escapes, and their tail is unusually expressive, curling lazily when amused and snapping sharply when annoyed. Kylaar dresses in travel-worn leather armor beneath an oversized russet cloak, with hidden pockets sewn into nearly every seam.
Mannerisms
Kylaar stretches dramatically before doing anything difficult, blinks one eye at a time when suspicious, and often speaks while grooming a forearm or lazily flicking their tail. They pause mid-conversation to evaluate the nearest comfortable sleeping spot.
Personality
Kylaar is curious, sly, and intensely observant, with a relaxed demeanor that makes others underestimate them. They are fond of clever bargains, dramatic entrances, warm food, and any situation where they can appear less competent than they really are. Kylaar is usually friendly, but their trust is difficult to earn and nearly impossible to regain once broken.
Ideals
Freedom. No ruler, guild, prophecy, or contract has the right to own another person's choices. Kylaar will always choose the open window over the locked door.
Bonds
Kylaar is determined to find the former partner who betrayed their crew and recover the one genuine family heirloom stolen during the betrayal, a silver collar charm engraved with their first name.
Flaws
Kylaar cannot resist a comfortable place to sleep, even during a crisis. They also tend to assume every conversation is a negotiation and may lie reflexively, even when honesty would be easier.
Quirks
Background
Kylaar grew up among dockside traders, traveling performers, and professional liars who taught them that truth was simply one tool among many. Their natural tabaxi curiosity made them an excellent observer, while their talent for slipping unnoticed through crowded markets made them an even better thief. Kylaar eventually became the face of a small confidence scheme, posing as a sleepy noble's attendant while quietly replacing forged contracts with real ones and real valuables with convincing imitations. The scheme worked beautifully until Kylaar took a nap in the wrong carriage and woke to discover that the entire crew had vanished with the profits. Since then, Kylaar has wandered from city to city under a rotating collection of names, occupations, and accents. They are now a rogue by necessity and a charlatan by instinct, earning coin through burglary, impersonation, and scams that are usually aimed at people who deserve to lose their money. Kylaar insists that naps are not laziness, but a tactical resource that sharpens the mind, improves patience, and occasionally prevents them from making terrible decisions. Their greatest ambition is to uncover who betrayed their old crew, though they keep postponing the investigation whenever a comfortable rooftop, warm sunbeam, or suspiciously unattended feather bed appears.
