Appearance
Keteku is a lean wood elf with copper-brown skin, sharp cheekbones, and dark hair worn in tight braids bound with small brass rings. His gray-green eyes are steady and observant, and a narrow scar crosses his left eyebrow from the night he defended his village granary. He wears well-maintained chain mail beneath a deep green surcoat marked with a simple silver sun, and carries a weathered longsword and round wooden shield.
Mannerisms
Keteku checks every door latch twice, rests two fingers against his holy symbol when making a difficult decision, and speaks more softly when angry. Before entering a village, he removes his helmet and greets the oldest person he can find.
Personality
Keteku is patient with frightened people, exacting with himself, and unexpectedly funny when camp life becomes miserable. He prefers practical solutions to grand speeches, but once he gives his word, he treats it as an iron bar that cannot be bent. He listens carefully before acting and remembers the names of people others overlook.
Ideals
Protect the vulnerable. A just oath is measured by the lives it preserves, not by the glory it brings to the one who swears it.
Bonds
The people of his home settlement trusted him when no one else came. Keteku will risk almost anything to protect them, and he intends to return one day with enough wealth and influence to build a permanent watchtower and refuge.
Flaws
Keteku finds it difficult to retreat once someone has asked him for help. He is suspicious of wealthy leaders who speak warmly about sacrifice but have never made one themselves, and his blunt distrust can turn a necessary alliance into a personal quarrel.
Quirks
Background
Keteku was raised in a forest-edge farming settlement where elves, humans, and half-elves shared irrigation ditches, orchards, and old grudges. He was never the strongest worker in the village, but he was the one people trusted to stand watch. When a band of raiders came during the harvest festival, Keteku organized the villagers, led the children into the old root cellar, and held the granary door until help arrived. The victory cost him a close friend and left him with a scar above his eye, but it also gave him a conviction that courage belongs to ordinary people, not only trained soldiers or noble champions. A traveling paladin saw Keteku's discipline and invited him to serve at a roadside shrine dedicated to justice and mercy. Keteku learned the rites of the oath, the use of armor, and the hard lesson that protecting people sometimes means confronting those who claim to rule them. He now travels as a newly sworn paladin of devotion, carrying the village's battered grain measure as a holy keepsake. He seeks to make the roads safer for isolated communities, while quietly wondering whether his faith can remain gentle in a world that rewards cruelty.
