Appearance
Mirel is a tall, lean wood elf with warm brown skin, long dark hair usually tied back with strips of green cloth, and clear amber eyes. His lower canine teeth are slightly prominent, showing whenever he laughs or eats, which gives his broad grin an unexpectedly mischievous character. He keeps the rest of his grooming deliberate and practical, trimming his hair carefully but leaving a narrow braid beside his right ear decorated with small wooden beads. He wears well-maintained scale mail beneath a weathered green cloak, with a longbow, two shortswords, and a shovel carried as naturally as any weapon.
Mannerisms
Mirel pauses before entering any room or crossing any bridge, quietly studying exits, tracks, and the direction of the wind. When thinking, he rubs the wooden beads in his braid one at a time. He smiles with his mouth closed when embarrassed, as though suddenly aware of his prominent teeth.
Personality
Mirel is observant, warm with ordinary people, and quick to laugh once he decides someone is safe. He prefers useful questions to polite conversation, often asking where a person gets their water, what path they took, or which local animal has been acting strangely. He is patient with fear but impatient with cruelty, and he has a habit of treating every village child as a potential apprentice.
Ideals
People matter more than laws. A rule that protects cruelty has already forfeited the right to obedience.
Bonds
My village gave me a home when it had little to spare. I will protect its people, its fields, and the forest that shelters them.
Flaws
Mirel cannot leave an injustice alone once he has noticed it, even when intervention is reckless or strategically foolish. He is also suspicious of officials who speak too smoothly, and he sometimes treats honest authority with the same distrust he reserves for corrupt authority.
Quirks
Background
Mirel Andorai grew up in a small woodland village where elves, human charcoal burners, and halfling traders shared the same wells and argued over the same footpaths. His mother kept the village seed stores, while his father repaired carts and taught Mirel how to read tracks, judge weather, and tell which silences in the forest meant danger. Mirel learned early that the village survived not through grand heroes, but through people who noticed a broken fence, a missing goat, or smoke where no smoke should be. When a band of poachers began driving game toward the village and taking payment from a local magistrate, Mirel organized the frightened villagers into night watches. He led them through old deer paths, rescued several trapped children, and exposed the magistrate's involvement by following bootprints to a hidden camp. The story spread farther than he expected, and people began calling him a hero. Mirel dislikes the title, but he accepted a ranger's training afterward, determined to protect places like his home before danger becomes a story people tell after the fact. He still carries the shovel he used to uncover the poachers' buried traps, and he treats it as both practical tool and reminder.
“The story spread farther than he expected, and people began calling him a hero.”
