Appearance
Alibjørn is a towering goliath man, standing nearly nine feet tall, with long, wavy red hair gathered into several thick braids. His green eyes are intense and observant, and his skin bears intricate carved tattoos recording Öskall lineage, journeys, battles, and the names of the dead he refuses to forget. He is devastatingly handsome in a severe, almost mythic way, with broad shoulders, powerful limbs, and the imposing physicality of someone born from both Nordic and Jotun royal blood. Rosefa's preserved fur forms the lining and mantle of his heavy cloak. He carries a massive battle-axe of translucent pure ice, its edge glowing with cold blue light, while sparks of fire and lightning gather around his hands when his rage rises. Despite his size, he often stands with his weight carefully shifted away from everyone nearby, as though constantly measuring whether he is taking up too much space. He is not.
Mannerisms
Alibjørn lowers himself slightly when speaking to smaller people, though he still towers over almost everyone. When waiting, he rests both hands on the haft of his axe and shifts his weight in a slow, deliberate rhythm. He checks doors, exits, and the positions of his companions without appearing to do so. He often pauses before answering questions about death, as though choosing words that will not make the subject sound beautiful.
Personality
Quiet, observant, and deeply affectionate, Alibjørn looks like a mythic executioner but behaves like an anxious older brother. He is intensely curious about geography, languages, anatomy, music, and the practical details of survival. He is patient with strangers, gentle with children, and almost comically attentive to whether his companions have eaten, slept, or dressed warmly enough. He dislikes being praised as a monster or legend, though he tolerates the reputation when it keeps enemies away. His humor is dry, his loyalty is absolute, and his rage is frightening because it grows from love rather than hatred.
Ideals
Protection. Strength exists to shield the vulnerable, not to dominate them. If I become the thing people need protection from, then I have failed, no matter how righteous my cause seems.
Bonds
Oreiðr is my brother, my best friend, and my chosen coregent. I will never allow anyone to turn us against one another. The Meridian is my second family, and Shae Shae is one of the people I failed once and will protect for the rest of my life. Rosefa's fur is sacred to me. Gomulland's people are not political pieces, and I will sacrifice everything before I let them be treated as disposable.
Flaws
I cannot forgive myself for harming Shae, even when others forgive me. When someone I love is threatened, my judgment can collapse into possessiveness and catastrophic violence. I would rather be feared than risk admitting that I am afraid, and I sometimes mistake suffering for proof that I am taking responsibility.
Quirks
Background
Alibjørn Érikur Lætning Öskallsson was born into the Öskall royal family, the son of Nydr and Queen Thaeri, a Fire Jotun of extraordinary stature. His birth fulfilled an ancient prophecy concerning Gomulland, which promised that the kingdom would come into existence through a child of Nordic and Jotun royal blood. Yet Alibjørn grew up less as a prophecy than as a beloved child. His brother Oreiðr was his closest companion, and their bond was forged through shared games, shared fights, and absolute trust. His grandfather Johannas, his uncle Erikur, and the wider Öskall clan helped make his childhood warm, even while his abusive father taught him the terrible lesson that strength does not always protect the vulnerable. Alibjørn's life became a promise to become the protector he had needed. Rosefa, his warg companion, became his older sister in all but blood. Her death when he was fourteen transformed his curiosity about mortality into a lifelong study of death, anatomy, and the fragile machinery of life. He wears her fur in his cloak and carries her memory into every battle. During the traditional Gomullander wandering years, Alibjørn crossed wild country, learned languages, studied geography, played his lute, and developed the brutal instincts of a survivor. He eventually joined the Meridian, where he found another family, especially in Shae, whom he calls Shae Shae. A betrayal within the group revealed the terrifying violence beneath his protective nature, and when Shae tried to stop him, he struck her and broke her arm. The guilt never left him. War, occupation, slavery, and imperial cruelty eventually drove Alibjørn into becoming the Blood Wolf, a hunter of imperial soldiers whose fury became legend. He lost an eye when his best friend Janius was forced to attack him, then later chose to forgive Janius after learning the truth. He loves Sylvana, even though she becomes ruler of the Empire responsible for devastating Gomulland. He loves his brother Oreiðr enough to make him coregent, declaring that if Oreiðr cannot be king, neither can he. Behind the legend of the Jotun-blooded king and the Blood Wolf remains a gentle, curious giant who plays the lute, lectures people about geography, checks whether everyone has eaten, and measures his worth by how many lives he can keep from being lost.
