Appearance
A broad-shouldered human man with a weathered face, ruddy complexion, and a thick brown beard threaded with premature gray. His dark hair is usually tied back beneath a flour-dusted bandanna. He wears practical chain mail beneath a reinforced cook's coat, with stained leather gloves, a belt of knives, and a battered iron pan hanging beside his sword. His forearms bear small burn scars from years at the stove, and his eyes are bright, alert, and constantly evaluating the world for useful ingredients.
Mannerisms
He gives combat commands in the same clipped rhythm he uses to run a kitchen line. He tastes sauces, potions, and occasionally suspicious liquids with the tip of one finger. When thinking, he taps a knife handle against his forearm and mutters ingredient substitutions under his breath.
Personality
Bramblewick is energetic, outspoken, and relentlessly practical. He treats adventuring parties as understaffed kitchens, assigning everyone a station and expecting them to communicate clearly. He is generous with food, suspicious of anyone who wastes it, and genuinely delighted by unfamiliar cultures, monsters, and plants if they might reveal a new flavor.
Ideals
Creation. The world is a pantry of possibilities, and every strange ingredient deserves to be understood rather than wasted. Freedom. No tyrant, guildmaster, noble, or monster has the right to decide who may eat well or learn freely.
Bonds
The Hearthstar Chef's Guild gave him a home, a trade, and a family. He will risk anything to protect its members, preserve its recipes, and ensure that no apprentice goes hungry. He also carries a scorched recipe book belonging to his late mentor, whose final unfinished recipe calls for an ingredient found only beyond the known roads.
Flaws
He becomes reckless when confronted with a rare ingredient, especially if someone warns him that it is poisonous, cursed, or legally protected. He is also blunt to the point of cruelty, convinced that a shouted correction is kinder than allowing someone to ruin a sauce, a formation, or a mission. Bramblewick secretly fears that his reputation as a commander is only impressive because people are hungry enough to obey him.
Quirks
Background
Bramblewick was born above the communal kitchen of the Hearthstar Chef's Guild, where his mother kept the ovens and his father sharpened knives for half the city. He showed little patience for polite dining but an exceptional talent for making a chaotic kitchen move as one. By sixteen, he could command a dozen cooks with a raised eyebrow, a snapped finger, and a perfectly timed insult. His preferred tools became short swords, daggers, and heavy iron pans, first for chopping and stirring, then for defending the guildhouse when smugglers tried to steal a shipment of dragon peppers.
