Appearance
Catherine is a tall, powerfully built wood elf with broad shoulders, dense muscle, and the imposing physical presence of a seasoned heavy infantry warrior. Her copper-brown hair is usually tied back with a strip of faded campaign cloth, and her green eyes are bright with restless ambition. She moves with a forward-leaning, predatory gait, as though every corridor might suddenly become a battlefield. Within a minute of meeting her, most people notice her breathing, which is slow and controlled when calm but becomes a deep, audible rumble when she is excited or angry. Her voice is warm and surprisingly gentle in conversation, yet rises into a ringing battle cry when violence begins.
Mannerisms
Catherine unconsciously performs pieces of basic military drill whenever she is forced to wait. She rolls her shoulders before difficult conversations, taps the pommel of her greatsword when impatient, and lowers her voice to a calm murmur immediately before violence. After a battle, she always asks who witnessed her finest strike, then pretends she was only checking whether anyone was injured.
Personality
Catherine is bold, physically affectionate with trusted companions, and almost comically direct. She has a good heart beneath her appetite for danger, protects civilians instinctively, and cannot tolerate cruelty disguised as discipline. She is not stupid, but she is impatient with abstract plans, subtle politics, and problems that cannot be solved by standing in the right place and hitting the right thing very hard. She wants to become a living legend, yet the people she inspires matter more to her than she admits.
Ideals
Glory should be earned in the open, where everyone can see the risk and the sacrifice. Strength is not meant to dominate the helpless. It exists to stand between danger and those who cannot withstand it.
Bonds
She carries the battered spear of Captain Arven Thorne, the commander who first recognized her courage and died buying her company time to escape an impossible battle. Catherine has sworn that his name will be spoken beside hers when history remembers the war.
Flaws
Catherine mistakes escalation for courage. She is quick to accept a dangerous challenge, quicker to answer an insult, and secretly terrified that a peaceful life would prove she was never extraordinary. She can be manipulated by anyone who promises a worthy battle or invokes Captain Arven's name. When victory is close, she sometimes pursues the most impressive finish instead of the safest one.
Quirks
Background
Catherine was raised among the marching roads and watchfires of an elven border host. Her kin expected her to become a patient warden of ancient woodland paths, but Catherine found little satisfaction in silent observation. She wanted banners, drums, and the thunderous moment when an enemy line broke beneath a determined charge. As soon as she was old enough to enlist, she joined a mixed company of elves and humans, where her immense strength and refusal to retreat quickly turned her into a shock trooper. She learned to carry a greatsword in both hands, to sleep lightly beneath rain and frost, and to trust the soldier beside her even when she trusted no plan made by a distant commander.
