Appearance
A lean wood elf with moss-green eyes, copper-brown hair cut bluntly at the jaw, and a calm, weathered face. Their clothing is carefully mended rather than ragged, with a soft leather coat whose sleeves are slightly too long and a faded blue cord tied around one wrist. They keep their hair clean and their boots meticulously oiled, even after long days outdoors. A carved alder pendant rests over their chest, polished smooth from frequent handling.
Mannerisms
Miko pauses before answering difficult questions, as if listening for a distant bird. They touch the alder pendant whenever discussing the poisoned spring and automatically straighten damaged plants, loose straps, or crooked objects within reach.
Personality
Quietly attentive and practical, Miko speaks in concise observations rather than opinions. They are patient with frightened animals, children, and anyone willing to learn, but become unexpectedly firm when someone treats the natural world as disposable. Their kindness is expressed through useful acts, such as mending a strap, preparing bitter tea, or standing watch without being asked.
Ideals
Restoration. What is broken should be healed when possible, and what cannot be healed should at least be understood before it is destroyed.
Bonds
The ancient spring beneath Miko's homeland is still threatened, and they will risk almost anything to restore it. They also carry a deep responsibility toward the small animals and plants that depended on their hermitage.
Flaws
Miko can become so absorbed in a problem that they neglect immediate human needs. They are also quietly judgmental of wastefulness, especially wasted food, careless fire, and needless cruelty toward animals.
Quirks
Background
Miko was raised among a woodland elf settlement built around an ancient spring, where every household kept a small garden and every child learned the names of birds before learning the names of kings. As a young adult, Miko became fascinated by the silence beneath ordinary sounds, the pause before rain, the moment when frightened animals decide whether to flee. That attention drew them into the service of a traveling druid, who taught them to read illness in leaves, weather in insects, and danger in the sudden absence of birdsong. After a wasting sickness struck the settlement, Miko withdrew to a remote hermitage in the high forest. There, through years of fasting, observation, and patient care for injured creatures, they discovered that the sickness was not natural. Something beneath the spring had been poisoned by old magic, and the corruption was slowly spreading through the roots. Miko purified what they could, but the source remains hidden. They now travel beyond the forest not for glory, but to find the people, relics, or forgotten history needed to save their home before the spring falls silent forever.
