Appearance
Valeraine is a striking Tiefling with vibrant violet-purple skin and eyes like polished silver. Her horns are magnificent, sweeping back in a mixture of matte grey and shimmering rose-pink bone. She wears oversized, flowing silk robes in shades of charcoal and lavender, which conceal both her slight frame and the myriad of rings and necklaces that clink softly whenever she moves. Her fingers are adorned with gold bands that she fidgets with constantly.
Mannerisms
She constantly adjusts her many necklaces and rings, and she never sits with her back to a door.
Personality
Valeraine is charmingly chaotic and highly observant. She speaks with a playful lilt, often hiding her sharp intellect behind the facade of a bored aristocrat. She is fiercely protective of her freedom and views rules as merely suggestions written by people with no imagination. Despite her criminal history, she has a soft spot for those the world has cast aside.
Ideals
Freedom. No person or law should have the power to tell me where I can go or what I can be.
Bonds
I still send half of my earnings to the orphanage in the Vertigo District where I grew up.
Flaws
I am addicted to the thrill of taking things I am not supposed to have, even when I do not need them.
Quirks
Background
Valeraine spent her youth in the Vertigo District, a vertical slum where she learned that a quick hand was better than a hard day's work. She was a 'ghost' for the local syndicate, using her natural tiefling traits to slip through shadows and empty the pockets of the city's wealthy elite. Her magic manifested not through study, but through a botched heist. While touching a forbidden celestial artifact, her bloodline's latent Abyssal power surged, shattering the relic and leaving her with an unstable, humming connection to the weave. She left her guild before they could exploit her new abilities, or before her magic accidentally leveled their headquarters. She now travels as a freelance 'acquisition specialist,' draped in the finery she once stole, looking for a way to stabilize the entropy that crackles at her fingertips. The jewelry she wears serves as a physical grounding technique, a way to focus her mind when the colors of the world start to blur into raw magic.
