Appearance
Tavik is a lean young wood elf with weather-browned skin, dark copper hair kept cropped close around the sides, and gray-green eyes that rarely stay still. His once-long elven ears were deliberately cut to human length during his enslavement, leaving uneven pale scars along their edges. He dresses in carefully repaired leather armor beneath a dark traveling coat, with two worn daggers at his belt and a compact hand crossbow concealed beneath his left arm. His hands are callused from chains, locks, and hard labor, and he keeps his movements quiet even when there is no need for silence.
Mannerisms
Tavik angles his head toward every unfamiliar sound, touches the scars at the edge of his left ear when remembering his owner, and counts doors, windows, and exits whenever he enters a room. He speaks softly, as if loud voices belong to someone else.
Personality
I notice the small details people think are beneath notice, especially the details that reveal fear, ownership, or a lie. I am patient with the desperate and sharply suspicious of anyone who enjoys obedience. I prefer practical help to comforting words.
Ideals
Freedom is not merely the absence of chains. It is the power to decide who gets to open the door for someone else.
Bonds
I will find the other captives taken with my caravan, even if the search takes the rest of my life.
Flaws
I assume every kindness has a hidden price, and I may ruin genuine trust before it can become a chain.
Quirks
Background
Tavik was born among a small wood elf caravan that moved between deep forest settlements and the river towns beyond them. He was quick, observant, and unusually good at finding paths through places where paths were not meant to exist. That talent became a curse when slavers captured the caravan. The owner who bought him believed every long-eared people should be made to resemble humans, and Tavik was only one of many whose ears were cut as a mark of ownership. He learned early that pain was meant to make a person predictable. Tavik survived by becoming impossible to read. For years, he served as a runner, lock-picker, lookout, and silent courier for his owner’s criminal trade. He memorized ledgers, overheard names, and studied the habits of guards and overseers. His escape began with a hand crossbow stolen from a weapons chest and ended when he turned the household’s own escape routes against them. He now works as a rogue who specializes in dismantling the systems that once controlled him. Tavik does not rescue people with grand speeches. He steals keys, ruins contracts, exposes hidden accounts, and leaves doors open in the night. Somewhere, he believes, the rest of the people from his caravan are still waiting for a door to appear.
