Appearance
Sava is a tall, bright-eyed aasimar woman with warm brown skin that seems to glow softly in torchlight. Fine gold freckles dust her cheeks and shoulders like scattered incense ash, and her hair falls in dark waves often bound back with white ribbon for temple service. She wears polished chain mail over clean vestments, carries a shield marked with a sunburst, and keeps a prayer book tucked close to her heart. Even at rest, she stands like someone listening for a bell only she can hear.
Mannerisms
She lowers her head briefly before speaking a promise, as though sealing it in prayer. In tense moments she rubs her thumb across the edge of her holy symbol, and she unconsciously straightens crooked items on altars, tables, and shelves. When listening to someone in pain, she stands very still, like a votive flame shielding itself from wind.
Personality
Calm, courteous, and unshakably earnest, Sava speaks like every word should be worthy of witness. She is gentle with the suffering, firm with the cruel, and most at ease when she is serving a purpose larger than herself. Her faith gives her backbone, but her compassion keeps that backbone from turning into a cudgel.
Ideals
Tradition and mercy, in equal measure. The old rites matter because they remind mortals that they are accountable to something greater than themselves, but law without compassion becomes another kind of corruption. She believes order should protect the innocent, not merely control them.
Bonds
She keeps a small brass icon from her temple, worn smooth by her thumb, and would cross the world to protect the people who entrusted it to her. She also feels responsible for every pilgrim and refugee she has ever guided, as if each one remains under her shield until they find peace.
Flaws
Sava is hard on herself and harder on anyone who treats sacred duties lightly. She can become so focused on doing the righteous thing the proper way that she misses the messy human reasons people fail. When authority wears a holy face, she is slow to question it, and that trust has hurt her before.
Quirks
Background
Sava was raised in a hillside temple where candle smoke, liturgy, and the sound of copying pens shaped her childhood. The priests discovered early that the quiet girl with the silvered eyes could sense when a room was spiritually unwell, as if the air itself warned her of dishonor. She was first trained as an acolyte, entrusted with prayers, records, and the care of pilgrims, but her celestial nature made her feel less like a servant and more like a vow given flesh. When a drought-struck caravan arrived at the temple gates, she chose to leave the cloisters and escort the sick, the desperate, and the fearful through bandit country rather than keep reciting mercy from a safe distance. That journey changed her. She saw how often law was confused with cruelty, and how often goodness was treated as weakness. Sava returned to the temple with a scar on her forearm and a new conviction in her heart, that faith must be defended as well as preached. She took up shield and sword, swore herself to a paladin's discipline, and began to walk the world as a living witness to divine order. Her calling is not to punish the fallen, but to stand between the innocent and whatever darkness believes itself entitled to them.
“She saw how often law was confused with cruelty, and how often goodness was treated as weakness.”
