Appearance
Bram is a massive, broad shouldered figure whose skin is a deep mottled green like rotting seaweed. Large, calcium white barnacles grow in clusters along his arms and neck, pulsing with a faint emerald bioluminescence. He has a second set of manta like wings folded beneath his heavy, rusted armor. His eyes are solid black globes and he smells of salt and deep ocean trenches.
Mannerisms
He walks with a heavy, rolling gait as if the floor is always tilting. He often scrapes salt from his skin with the edge of his blade.
Personality
Bram is blunt and possessive, viewing his crew as a single organism that he must protect like a shell. He speaks in a gurgling rumble and finds land based customs confusing and inefficient. He is strangely polite to victims before he throws them overboard, considering the ocean a more honorable judge than any king.
Ideals
Survival. Only those who can adapt to the changing tides deserve to stay afloat. Loyalty to the ship is the only law.
Bonds
I carry the compass of my first captain. It no longer points north, but to the exact location where I died and was reborn.
Flaws
I am terrified of open flames and cannot sleep if I am not at least partially submerged in water or sea mist.
Quirks
Background
Bram was once a simple merchant sailor named Elias until the day the Gilded Lily was dragged down by a kraken's pull. While his shipmates drowned, Elias was found by the mages of the Barnacle Bunch, a crew of outcasts who had modified their bodies to survive the lightless depths. They transformed him into a Simic Hybrid, grafting chitinous plates to his flesh and giving him the gift of gills. He discarded his human name, becoming Bram the Hull-Cracker. Now he serves as the primary boarder for the Bunch, the first one to leap from the rigging and the last to leave the deck. He has forgotten the sun and the stars, finding more beauty in the cold pressure of the abyss than the warmth of a tavern fire. His loyalty to his crew is absolute, forged in the crushing weight of the sea floor where oxygen is the only currency that matters.
