Appearance
Tamar Tserava is a lean wood elf with weather-browned olive skin, long dark hair usually braided with bits of red thread, and steady hazel eyes. Her hands are her most distinctive feature. The fingertips are thickened and slightly rough from bowstring work, horse tack, rope, and years of searching cramped alleys and abandoned campsites. She wears a practical suit of scale mail beneath a moss-green cloak, with a guild badge of hammered copper sewn inside the collar rather than displayed openly. Her boots and cloak are permanently marked by dust, rain, and pale mineral mud from the roads around Askia.
Mannerisms
Tamar touches the inside of her collar whenever she hears a false name. When thinking, she silently counts nearby doors, windows, and exits on her fingers. She speaks gently to frightened animals and much more bluntly to armed adults.
Personality
Observant, patient, and quietly stubborn. Tamar listens longer than most people expect, remembers small practical details, and has a dry sense of humor that appears only after she has decided someone is trustworthy. She is comfortable in muddy roads, crowded markets, and tense silences, but becomes visibly uneasy when praised in public.
Ideals
Mercy is not weakness. A hunter's duty is to uncover the truth and prevent further harm, not to turn every frightened person into a corpse.
Bonds
The Bounty Hunters Guild of Askia gave Tamar a place when her family considered her too restless and too soft-hearted for the road. She will protect the guild's reputation, but she secretly intends to reform its harshest practices from within.
Flaws
Tamar cannot leave an unanswered inconsistency alone. She will risk time, money, and sometimes a contract to investigate a detail that may not matter. She also tends to assume that people who speak confidently are hiding something.
Quirks
Background
Tamar Tserava was raised on the eastern roadways of Askia, where her family maintained a small waystation used by merchants, pilgrims, and people who preferred not to be remembered. She learned early that a trail was rarely just footprints. It was a missing cup at a campfire, a horse watered too recently, a traveler who paid in coins from the wrong province. Her first successful hunt was not glorious. She found a runaway debtor hiding in a grain loft, then spent half a day convincing him to come down without making the frightened farmer lose his roof tiles. The local chapter of the Bounty Hunters Guild of Askia noticed the restraint as much as the result. Now a novice guild hunter, Tamar takes contracts that more experienced agents consider too small, too local, or too tedious. She tracks deserters, stolen animals, vanished apprentices, and fugitives who know how to disappear into crowded streets. She has not yet earned the right to take the guild's more dangerous contracts, and she is determined to prove that patience and careful observation can rival brute force. Her growing reputation rests on returning targets alive whenever possible, partly from principle and partly because she dislikes clean answers to complicated human problems.
