- TraitTortleNatural Armor, your shell provides a base Armor Class of 17. You cannot wear armor.

Appearance
A broad-shelled tortle with weathered olive-green plating, a faded saffron prayer cord tied around one foreleg, and ritual paint in simple white marks across the shell. Their face is calm but permanently alert, with deep-set eyes that miss little. They carry a massive greataxe alongside a small holy symbol etched from driftwood, an odd contrast that suits them perfectly.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly and deliberately, even when furious. Before entering danger, they press two fingers to their holy symbol and draw a slow breath. When thinking, they tap the edge of their shell with one knuckle like a temple bell.
Personality
Quietly compassionate, fiercely protective, and unexpectedly intense when their faith is challenged. They prefer patient listening to argument, but once a line is crossed, their calm becomes a tidal wave.
Ideals
Mercy must be protected by strength. A gentle faith is not weak, it is defended by those willing to stand in the storm.
Bonds
They still carry a polished driftwood holy symbol from the monastery and send part of every reward back to rebuild the sea wall and prayer hall that sheltered them. They feel personally responsible for every novice who escaped the raid.
Flaws
They can be stubborn to the point of immobility, refusing to retreat from a fight even when retreat would be wise. They also struggle to trust authorities who preach peace but do nothing when the weak are in danger.
Quirks
Background
For most of their life, this tortle lived in a quiet shoreline monastery where the tides were treated as scripture and every storm as a sermon. They were not the most graceful student, nor the quickest with prayers, but they listened with unusual intensity. When the elders spoke of patience, they learned patience. When they spoke of the fury that rises to defend the helpless, they learned that too. Their shell bore the salt and sun of years spent copying hymns, carrying water, and standing watch at the sea wall while younger acolytes slept. That life changed when raiders, smugglers, or some other hungry cruelty came to the coast and tested the monastery's vows of peace. In the moment when sacred halls were breached, the tortle found that devotion and wrath could live in the same heart. They seized a heavy axe from the armory, and with one terrible burst of righteous fury, drove the invaders back. Since then, they have traveled as a wandering protector, believing that faith is not only recited in silence but proven when danger comes calling. They still bow before every shrine they pass, but now their prayers often end with a promise to strike first if innocents are threatened.
