Appearance

Noen is a diminutive male tiefling standing only 3 feet 5 inches tall. His skin is a brilliant, defiant crimson, contrasted by black eyes with faint ember-red irises. His asymmetrical horns curve sharply backward, one ridged like a ram's horn and the other swept like a hooked blade. A narrow face, pointed ears, and a perpetual half-smile give him a mischievous appearance. He wears dark scale mail beneath a weather-stained cloak, carries a longbow nearly as tall as he is, and wears a greenish-iridescent gem set into one ear as an earring. His tail is thin, expressive, and often curls around his ankle when he is thinking.

Mannerisms

Noen rarely stands still. He taps the shaft of an arrow against his palm, adjusts his gem earring when thinking, and tilts his head like a hunting bird when listening. He speaks softly until danger appears, then becomes unnervingly calm. He frequently looks upward when addressing taller people and dislikes being carried, patted on the head, or called cute.

Personality

Noen is watchful, irreverent, and intensely curious. He treats every ruin as a puzzle, every stranger as a potential threat or source of information, and every authority figure as an invitation to misbehave. Beneath his sharp humor is a fiercely protective survivor who has spent most of his life pretending he needs no one. He is more comfortable studying people from the shadows than speaking plainly about his feelings.

Ideals

Freedom is worth any danger. No tyrant, devil, king, or prophecy has the right to decide what a person becomes. Knowledge is the sharpest weapon, and it belongs in the hands of those willing to use it.

Bonds

Noen is determined to find his twin brother Ezar and uncover the truth behind his banishment. He has also sworn to restore Doni's vanished tribe if any of the Nonard still survive. The gem at his ear and the drake Eyks are both family, burden, and destiny.

Flaws

Noen cannot resist forbidden knowledge, even when caution would save his life. He assumes affection is temporary and often tests people before trusting them. When frightened, he becomes sarcastic and reckless, especially if someone compares him to Ezar or treats him as helpless because of his size.

Quirks

Names every important arrow before carrying it into battle.
Collects fragments of broken mirrors and studies their reflections.
Argues with Eyks as though the drake can answer in complete sentences.
Keeps a private list of every person who has underestimated him.
Sleeps with one hand touching the gem earring.

Background

Born into the infernal nobility as the diminutive twin son of King Varnak, the Crimson Tyrant, Noen grew beneath the shadow of his enormous brother, Ezar. Ezar was trained to conquer and command, while Noen was shaped into something quieter and more dangerous, a scout, spy, and surgical blade for the family court. Formal instruction taught him archery, blade work, stealth, survival, and the patient study of a target. Noen embraced the discipline of the ranger, then bent it toward his own obsessions. He explored forgotten ruins, deciphered forbidden runes, and hunted secrets through the archives while sharing rare dreams of freedom with Ezar. When Ezar defied their father and was banished, Noen stole Varnak's infernal trident and attempted to escape through a mirror ritual. The spell hurled him into another region of the Nine Hells instead. He survived by slipping through places devils ignored, tracking prey across hostile wastelands, and turning his small stature into a weapon. Eventually he reached the hoard of the great dragon O'rvan, where he recognized symbols connected to Nefet, a forgotten being said to exist between planes. Impressed by his knowledge, O'rvan spared him and gave him a singular greenish gem. When the gem erupted with light, a young drake named Eyks emerged, forming an immediate bond with Noen. Noen now wears the gem as an earring, a reminder of both ancient power and dangerous responsibility. Years later, the gem awakened near a forgotten draconic shrine, opening a gate to Krawkid Isle. There Noen met Doni, a bright-eyed pink kobold whose tribe, the Nonard, had vanished during the Great Earthshake. Unable to find the missing tribe, Noen promised to help her seek answers in Arturia. He smuggled them both aboard a mainland-bound ship and began a new hunt through Cavria's wilds, ruins, and libraries. He is searching for Doni's people, the truth behind the planar convergence, and any trace of Ezar. For the first time, Noen is not merely pursuing freedom or knowledge. He is protecting someone, and that responsibility is changing the shape of his soul.
