Appearance
Kharzun is a broad-shouldered air genasi with pale blue skin, a shock of white hair that never quite lies flat, and eyes like sunlit rainwater. He favors practical soldier's gear under a polished guild tabard, the cloth weathered from travel and stitched with old caravan motifs. A faint breeze seems to stir around him when he is excited or angry, and he wears a fingerless glove on his left hand to hide the burn-scar of a long-ago brand. Despite his armor, he moves with a courier's light step, always looking half ready to bolt, half ready to shield someone else.
Mannerisms
He taps two fingers against his shield when thinking, as if counting down to a charge. When angry, a faint breeze curls his hair across his eyes, and he speaks through a tight, almost cheerful smile. He never sits with his back to a door, and he habitually straightens straps, buckles, and seams on other people's gear without being asked.
Personality
Dryly funny, alert, and stubbornly protective, Kharzun acts like a man who expects the worst but refuses to let it win. He is generous with labor, spare coin, and dangerous plans, but hates pity and finds comfort in competence. He is happiest when repairing a broken thing, scouting a route, or turning a battle into a puzzle he can solve for the people beside him.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be owned by birth, debt, magic, or fear. Kharzun believes strength only matters if it can be used to break chains and open roads for other people.
Bonds
He will never abandon a captive family member, caravan friend, or fellow soldier if there is any way to reach them alive. He keeps the bent brass lamp key from the caravan as a reminder that someone out there can still be found and freed.
Flaws
Kharzun mistakes motion for freedom, so he can run headlong into danger before he has fully thought it through. He bristles at being ordered around, even when the order is wise, and authority figures who sound too much like his grandparents or a commander can get an instant, reckless no from him. When someone mentions lamps, bargains, or magical contracts, his temper turns sharp and his judgment turns worse.
Quirks
Background
Kharzun, called Kaye by those who know him best, was born under the strange luck of a lamp, a djinn, and a merchant's daughter who should have known better than to flirt with fate in the back of a caravan. His childhood was spent rolling between market towns with his mother and overbearing grandparents, learning prices, ledgers, and the particular cruelty of family members who mistake control for love. The caravan raised him on song, stories, and hard work, but it also taught him that no road was ever truly his own. He enlisted in the army to escape the endless motion of the merchant life and to earn something sturdier than ancestry, duty. There he found the clean honesty of orders, the comfort of comrades, and the one place where his quick hands and quicker feet were useful for more than haggling. But years later, a magician came hunting an antique lamp and found only ruin. In a fit of rage, the wizard destroyed the caravan and enslaved Kharzun's family. Now Kaye walks with soldier's discipline and a fugitive's fury, trying to build enough strength, allies, and hard-earned leverage to break chains, burn down tyrants, and prove that a life made by choice is stronger than any fate written in smoke.
