Appearance
Hawk is a lean, athletic male tabaxi with tawny-gold fur, dark brown rosettes, sharp green eyes, and a long, expressive tail. His ears are usually angled toward the nearest exit. He wears fitted leather armor beneath a charcoal hooded coat, soft boots, fingerless gloves, and a collection of hidden pouches. A small hawk feather is braided into the fur beside his right ear.
Mannerisms
Hawk rarely sits with his back to a wall. He taps two fingers against his thigh when planning, tilts his head toward unfamiliar sounds, and smooths the hawk feather beside his ear whenever he tells a half-truth.
Personality
Charming, observant, and controlled, Hawk presents himself as a casual professional even when he is terrified. He enjoys verbal sparring, dislikes needless cruelty, and is always studying doors, windows, pockets, and people. Beneath his confidence is a sincere desire to become better than the gang that raised him.
Ideals
Redemption. A person's past should explain them, not own them. Hawk intends to prove that clever hands can be used to protect people as readily as they once harmed them.
Bonds
He still carries the original hawk feather, and he will risk almost anything to keep it from falling into the gang's hands. He also quietly sends coin to a former gang member who helped him escape.
Flaws
He assumes every kindness has a hidden price, and when frightened of being recognized, he lies too quickly and too elaborately. He also has a dangerous habit of returning to scenes of past crimes to prove that nobody can catch him.
Quirks
Background
Hawk Feather was raised in the Gilded Talons, a criminal gang that moved through the city rooftops like a second, shadowed population. His tabaxi instincts made him an exceptional lookout and infiltrator. He learned to read a room by its silences, open locks by touch, and lie with a smile that made people want to believe him. The gang gave him his nickname after he stole a hawk feather from the ceremonial helm of a corrupt magistrate, then escaped across three rooftops without being seen. As he grew older, Hawk began to understand that the gang's work was not merely clever theft. Extortion, blackmail, and violence followed every profitable scheme. He secretly left after sabotaging a shipment intended for a brutal gang enforcer, taking only the clothes on his back, his tools, and the feather that had become his namesake. Now he works as a rogue-for-hire, seeking jobs that feel like progress rather than repetition. He wants to become someone whose skills can build a better life, but every crowded tavern and unfamiliar city street carries the fear that an old associate will recognize his face and drag him back into the shadows.
