Appearance

Tholadin is a stocky dwarf with skin the shade of polished walnut. His dark brown beard is braided with silver copper wires and tiny gears. He wears heavy brass goggles pushed up on his forehead and his scale mail is covered by a grease-stained leather artisan's apron.

Mannerisms

He frequently clicks his tongue when thinking, mimicking the sound of a ticking clock.

Personality

Tholadin is hyper-focused and meticulous. He views the world as a complex machine that simply needs the right tuning. He is often seen cleaning his tools or absentmindedly sketching schematics in the air with his fingers.

Ideals

Innovation. The world advances through the application of logic and the constant refinement of technology.

Bonds

My guild holds the record of my greatest failure, I must prove my genius to them by crafting a legendary artifact.

Flaws

I become so absorbed in my mechanical projects that I frequently ignore my surroundings and the needs of my companions.

Quirks

Talks to his tools as if they were living pets.
Uses copper wire to tie back his hair.

Background

Tholadin was born into the Ironbrand clan of stonemasons, but he found the static nature of stone boring. He gravitated toward the intricate movements of jewelry and clockwork, eventually joining the local Tinkers Guild. His career was nearly ruined when a prototype mechanical owl exploded during a guild showcase, which Tholadin insists was a result of sabotage rather than poor design. Though the guild cleared his name, the whisperings of his peers drove him to leave his mountain home. He now wanders the surface world, searching for ancient technologies and exotic materials to create a masterpiece that will restore his reputation and prove his theories on arcane mechanics correct. Every scrap of metal or strange crystal he finds is potential fuel for his next great invention.
