Appearance
A tall, poised aasimar woman with pale ivory skin, electric green hair, and luminous silver eyes without pupils. Her electric blue-green feathered wings fold neatly behind her shoulders, and a faint radiant aura surrounds her like heat haze over polished stone. She dresses in practical monk's clothing beneath a scholar's robe, with ink-stained fingers, carefully bound scrolls, and a quarterstaff marked with tiny cataloguing symbols from Candlekeep.
Mannerisms
Aduola pauses before answering difficult questions, touching two fingers to her wrist as if checking the rhythm of an invisible pulse. She straightens crooked books without noticing, speaks in precise measured sentences, and lowers her voice whenever she enters a library, even if no one else is present.
Personality
Quietly intense, observant, and unfailingly courteous, Aduola approaches conversation like a text that may contain a hidden argument. She is patient with sincere ignorance but has little tolerance for careless claims, damaged books, or people who use authority to avoid examination. Beneath her discipline is a warm protectiveness toward apprentices, frightened travelers, and anyone who feels out of place among scholars.
Ideals
Knowledge must be preserved, tested, and placed in the hands of those disciplined enough to use it responsibly. Order is not the enemy of truth, it is the vessel that keeps truth from being lost.
Bonds
Candlekeep is not merely her home, it is a living trust entrusted to her care. She would risk herself to protect its books, its people, and the truths hidden inside them. She also keeps her parent's prayer ribbon sealed in a cedar case, determined to learn whether her celestial family serves knowledge faithfully or merely hoards it.
Flaws
She treats uncertainty as a personal failure and can become coldly controlling when others improvise around important knowledge. She is also prone to protecting a dangerous truth simply because destroying or suppressing it feels intellectually dishonest.
Quirks
Background
Aduola Oseye was born beneath a sky filled with silent auroras, the daughter of a minor immortal who served in the outer court of Oghma, god of knowledge. Her celestial parent left no inheritance of title or wealth, only a silver-feathered prayer ribbon and a warning that divine blood was not wisdom. Wisdom, Aduola was told, had to be practiced one careful choice at a time. She was brought to Candlekeep as a child, where the monks and librarians discovered that she could memorize a page after a single reading and sense when a book had been deliberately altered. Rather than treating these gifts as miracles, her tutors gave her chores, ink, silence, and questions.
