Appearance
Misla is a lean half-elf woman with a weather-browned complexion, sharp green-brown eyes, and dark hair cut just below the jaw so it cannot be easily grabbed. Her most noticeable feature is her smile, which reveals one slightly pointed canine and a habit of showing her teeth when she laughs, bargains, or feels cornered. Years spent climbing rooftops and traveling exposed roads have roughened her knuckles and left her skin wind-chapped around the hands. She dresses in fitted, dark leather armor beneath a long charcoal coat, with a rapier at her hip, two daggers concealed at her waist, and a shortbow wrapped in oiled cloth.
Mannerisms
Misla rolls a coin across her knuckles while thinking, tilts her head before answering a question, and smiles broadly whenever a conversation becomes dangerous. She checks every door hinge as she passes and never sits with her back to an entrance.
Personality
Clever, watchful, and irreverently charming, Misla treats every conversation as a game of position and leverage. She enjoys puncturing arrogance, collects useful secrets, and has a soft spot for people who are underestimated. She is friendly in the way a cat is friendly, warm when she chooses and gone the moment she feels trapped.
Ideals
Freedom. No one owns my labor, my loyalty, or my future. Anyone who tries to claim me has already made an enemy.
Bonds
She protects the younger couriers and street children who remind her of herself, even when doing so costs her a profitable job.
Flaws
Misla treats dependence as a kind of defeat. She would rather lie, steal, or sleep in the rain than admit she needs help, and she is quick to betray a plan if someone tries to give her orders.
Quirks
Background
Misla grew up between two worlds and belonged fully to neither. Her elven mother worked as a courier and occasional burglar for a merchant syndicate, while her human father disappeared after crossing the wrong gambling house. Misla learned early that a quick hand could keep food on the table, and that a convincing lie was often safer than a sharp blade. By adolescence, she was running messages through crowded markets, slipping through locked windows, and learning which guards could be distracted by flattery and which required a bribe. Her criminal career changed when she discovered that her syndicate was using her to deliver evidence that would condemn an innocent family. Misla kept the evidence, exposed the scheme to one of the syndicate's rivals, and fled before either side could decide whether to reward or kill her. She now works as a thief, scout, and occasional information broker, following her own rules and refusing to be owned by any guild, lord, or cause. She still maintains a cautious relationship with her old criminal contact, who may be her greatest asset or the person most likely to sell her out.
