While raging, you have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, a bonus to damage rolls with Strength-based melee attacks, and resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. Rage lasts 1 minute and ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven't attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then.

Appearance

Chud is a mountain of a man with a thick neck and a square jaw. He keeps his hair cut in a tight, monastic buzz and his face is usually clean shaven except for a slight shadow. He wears his white acolyte vestments tied around his waist, exposing his massive, scarred torso, and he carries his heavy greataxe as if it were a holy relic.

Mannerisms

Chud tends to stand perfectly still when not moving, looking like a statue. He always makes direct, unblinking eye contact during conversations.

Personality

I speak in short, declarative sentences. I believe that hard work and physical exertion are forms of prayer. I have little patience for nuance or moral ambiguity, preferring to see the world in clear terms of right and wrong. I am deeply protective of the weak and often act as a literal shield for my allies.

Ideals

Tradition. The ancient laws and scriptures provide the only true path to a stable and just society. (Lawful)

Bonds

Everything I do is to bring honor to the monastery that raised me and to prove I am a worthy servant of the gods.

Flaws

I am so blinded by my dogma that I often fail to see the truth when it contradicts my teachings.

Quirks

He constantly mumbles short prayers to himself during combat.
He sleeps sitting up with his axe across his knees.
He refuses to eat food that isn't bland or strictly utilitarian.

Background

Chud was left on the steps of the Monastery of the Stern Balance as an infant. He grew up scrubing floors, reciting scripture, and attempting to find inner peace. While the other acolytes found tranquility in meditation, Chud only found it in the rhythmic swing of a practice maul or the exhaustion of heavy labor. He tried to be a man of words, but the divine sparked something more primal in his blood. Whenever he witnessed injustice, a white-hot heat would flare behind his eyes that no prayer could douse. Eventually, the High Priest recognized that Chud's path to the divine was not through a pulpit, but through the cleansing of evil from the world. He was sent forth with the monastery's blessing and a heavy axe to act as a militant arm of their faith. He views his rage not as a loss of control, but as a righteous fervor granted by the heavens to strike down the wicked. He travels now to find a cause worthy of his strength, seeking to impose order on a chaotic world.
