Appearance
A lean, copper-brown-skinned human with a narrow face, dark eyes, and thick black hair braided with faded red and saffron threads. Their traveling clothes are practical but vivid, with embroidered cuffs, a patched blue sash, and a weathered rapier at the hip. A small charango hangs across their back beside a leather case of handwritten songs. Their smile is quick, crooked, and usually arrives a moment before the joke.
Mannerisms
Nima taps rhythms against their wrist whenever thinking, tilts their head before answering a difficult question, and punctuates important declarations with a soft pluck on the charango. They rarely sit with their back to a door.
Personality
Warm, restless, and observant, Nima treats every conversation as a duet. They are generous with praise, quick to defend outsiders, and incapable of leaving an awkward silence unfilled. Beneath the easy humor is a disciplined listener who remembers names, debts, private griefs, and the exact words people use when they are afraid.
Ideals
A story belongs to the people who need it. Knowledge, music, and courage should never be locked away by priests, nobles, or scholars who claim they alone are fit to hold them.
Bonds
I carry the charango of my late mentor, Tavio, and I will recover the song he died trying to protect.
Flaws
I cannot resist performing for a hostile crowd, especially when silence would be wiser. I also embellish the truth so instinctively that I sometimes forget which version of a story actually happened.
Quirks
Background
Nima Quispe was raised among market singers, puppet players, and traveling musicians who followed the old road between river towns and highland passes. Their family performed wherever a crowd gathered, trading songs for supper and stories for safe passage. Nima learned early that a melody could make a suspicious guard laugh, persuade a grieving widow to open her door, or turn a riot into a dance. Their first instrument was a three-stringed charango made from a cracked festival box, repaired so many times that every note carried the sound of someone else's hands.
