Appearance

Garret stands broad-shouldered and tall, his orcish heritage evident in his grey-tinted skin and small lower tusks. He keeps his hair slicked back and maintains a meticulously trimmed goatee to fit his 'noble' persona. He wears high-quality chain mail, polished to a mirror finish, over which he drapes a tattered but once-expensive purple cloak.

Mannerisms

Garret frequently checks his fingernails for dirt and bows low to anyone he deems influential, even if it is a mockery.

Personality

He is boisterous and prone to grand gestures, often using overly sophisticated vocabulary to hide his rougher origins. Despite his history as a con artist, he has a soft heart for the poor and often 'borrows' from the rich only to tip street urchins with gold coins.

Ideals

Redemption. Every person, no matter their birth or their mistakes, deserves the chance to be more than what society expects of them.

Bonds

He sends most of his earnings back to a dilapidated temple that took him in when he first arrived in the city, hoping to see it restored to its former glory.

Flaws

I can't resist a gamble, even when I know the odds are against me, and I have a pathological need to be the smartest person in any room.

Quirks

Always polishes his armor before sleeping
Tends to hum operatic tunes while fighting

Background

Garret was born into the Iron Tooth tribe, but his lack of bloodlust and interest in the shiny trinkets of civilization made him an outcast. He realized early on that a half-orc could get much further with a polite smile and a fake title than an axe. He moved to the city and invented 'Baron von Thunn', a persona that allowed him to dine in high halls while pocketing the silverware. Eventually, his luck ran dry when he tried to forge a deed for a local manor and was chased out of town by the real owners' guards. He turned to the life of a mercenary, finding that his mix of physical intimidation and silver-tongued deception made him an effective, if unconventional, protector. He now travels the world, selling his sword to pay for the fine wines he grew accustomed to during his days as a fake nobleman, though he still cannot help but run a long con if it means helping someone truly desperate.
