Appearance
A sturdy human woman of average height, with wind-browned skin, dark chestnut hair usually braided close to the head, and steady gray-green eyes. She wears well-kept scale mail beneath a practical blue-gray clerical robe, with a polished wooden holy symbol of a sunburst at her throat. Within a minute of meeting someone, she is likely to check that the holy symbol lies flat against her chest, then look first toward the room's exits and only afterward at the person speaking.
Mannerisms
She touches the edge of her holy symbol before entering a new room, keeps her eyes moving between exits and hands, and counts under her breath while preparing bandages or arranging ritual objects.
Personality
Branwen is patient, observant, and practical. She listens without interrupting, remembers small details about people's needs, and prefers useful kindness to dramatic declarations. Her calm manner hides a stubborn core. Once she decides someone is being harmed unjustly, she becomes difficult to discourage.
Ideals
Mercy is an obligation, not a favor. The fortunate must become shelter for those who have been left exposed.
Bonds
The hill-country temple that raised her is her true home. She sends part of every reward back to keep its infirmary stocked and its doors open.
Flaws
She can become quietly judgmental toward people who treat suffering as someone else's problem. When frightened, she overexplains practical details instead of admitting that she is afraid.
Quirks
Background
Branwen grew up in a hill-country village where the temple served as granary, hospice, schoolhouse, and refuge during every hard season. As a child, she learned that prayer was not only spoken from a lectern. It was carried in full baskets, clean bandages, steady hands, and the courage to sit beside someone who was afraid. Her quiet attentiveness drew the notice of the temple's aging priest, who took her as an acolyte and taught her the rites of healing, the keeping of records, and the careful reading of old scripture. When a fever swept through the surrounding farms, Branwen remained at the temple after the other acolytes were sent away. She helped tend the sick until the outbreak passed, but one family arrived too late to save their youngest child. Branwen has never treated that loss as proof that the gods failed. Instead, she sees it as a warning against complacency. She now travels beyond her village to bring aid where it is needed, investigate signs of cruelty or corruption, and learn whether compassion can be made strong enough to survive in places where people have forgotten how to offer it.
