Appearance
Mimicule is naturally pallid with features that seem half finished. His onyx dark eyes are always searching for textures to replicate. He rarely takes a human form, preferring to adopt the grainy texture of wood, the cold sheen of polished marble, or the coarse weave of burlap across his skin. He moves with a rigid, unnatural grace, as if every joint is a hinge. He wears dark studded leather that he has treated to look like a stack of weathered iron plates.
Mannerisms
Mimicule speaks in a soft, adaptive cadence that often takes on the accent of whoever he is talking to. He constantly runs his fingers over surfaces, clicking his nails against them to hear if they are hollow.
Personality
He is intensely curious about how things are held together. He treats objects with more respect than people, often whispering to doors or chests before interacting with them. He is playful but cautious, using misdirection to keep others at arm's length. He views his party members as a new brood, though he frequently 'tests' them with subtle pranks to ensure they are observant.
Ideals
Loyalty. My brood comes first, whether they are creatures of wood and glue or friends I have chosen. Craft over force. A lock picked is better than a door smashed.
Bonds
I must protect the dungeon brood that raised me from the hunters who seek to turn them into leather and trophies.
Flaws
I am deeply confused by social cues and often prioritize hiding as an inanimate object over speaking to solve a problem.
Quirks
Background
Mimicule has no memories of parents who walked on two legs. His first memories are of the damp smell of stone and the protective, sticky warmth of a mimic colony in a forgotten vault. To the mimics, he was a curious addition. To him, they were family. He learned to survive by holding his breath for hours and assuming the shape of a discarded crate to avoid the 'loud ones' who came with torches and blades. He truly believed he was just a mimic that was born with the wrong skin. It was only when a veteran thief named Finch discovered him mid-transformation that Mimicule realized there was a world above. Finch saw potential in a boy who could hide in plain sight without magic, and he taught the changeling how to use tools to supplement his biological instincts. Mimicule now walks the surface world as a rogue and tinkerer, though he still identifies more with the silent, patient treasure chests of his youth than any humanoid race. He crafts elixirs that mimic the strange acids of his family and dreams of one day finding a way to make his shapeshifting permanent so he can finally be a 'real' mimic.
