Appearance
Hassfird is a towering figure, standing nearly eight feet tall with a gentle, broad face. His skin is a soft, bluish-gray color, and his ears are long and pointed, often twitching at the sound of distant birdsong. He possesses a thick, copper-colored beard decorated with bits of dried moss and small, smooth stones. Despite his size, he moves with a surprising, ghostly grace, his leather armor muted by overgrowths of lichen and ivy.
Mannerisms
He looks at people's shoes rather than their eyes when he is nervous, which is most of the time. He constantly adjusts his grip on his bow, not out of aggression, but to keep his large hands occupied.
Personality
Hassfird is the personification of a quiet afternoon in the deep woods. He speaks in a low rumble that rarely rises above a whisper, preferring to let others take the spotlight. He is incredibly patient and often finds himself apologizing to furniture or doors that he accidentally bumps into. He finds cities distressing and prefers the company of his giant mountain hare, whom he treats with the reverence of a king.
Ideals
Preservation. The world is a garden that must be tended with care, ensuring that even the smallest sprout has room to grow.
Bonds
I carry a bag of seeds from my home grove. My purpose is to plant them in places where the land has been scarred by war or greed.
Flaws
I am so afraid of causing accidental harm with my size that I often hesitate to act in heated moments among people.
Quirks
Background
Hassfird was born in the Whispering Heights, a mountain range shrouded in mist where his firbolg tribe lived in total isolation. While his siblings competed in tests of strength, Hassfird spent his time mapping the migration of the silver-winged hawks and nursing wounded foxes. He learned that the smallest lives often require the greatest strength to protect. He left his home only when he realized that a blight from the lowlands was beginning to creep up the mountainside, threatening the sanctuary he spent his life tending. Entering the world of humans was a shock, but he views himself as a temporary bridge between the wild and the civilized. He travels now to find the source of the rot, walking softly but carrying a bow that can fell a diseased beast from across a valley. He remains a humble student of the earth, believing that every tree has a story and every creature deserves a safe place to sleep.
