Appearance
Zira is a slender, tawny-furred tabaxi with darker russet stripes along her arms, shoulders, and tail. She moves with a low, fluid prowling gait, often favoring the balls of her feet as though every floor might creak. Years spent outdoors and in grimy alleys have left her paw pads rough and her fur slightly weather-darkened at the tips. Her green-gold eyes are constantly tracking movement, and a small silver bell with mysterious markings hangs from a cord around her neck. She dresses in patched, practical clothing beneath well-maintained leather armor, with a rapier at her hip and daggers hidden where a quick paw can reach them.
Mannerisms
Zira rarely stands fully still. Her tail traces slow, thoughtful curves, her ears swivel toward every unexpected sound, and she tests unfamiliar floors with one careful paw before committing her weight. When thinking, she rolls her silver bell between her fingers without ringing it. She speaks lightly when nervous, often adding a teasing observation before turning serious.
Personality
Resourceful and street-smart, Zira quickly assesses people, exits, and possible solutions. She is kind-hearted but guarded, offering aid to the vulnerable while keeping her own secrets close. Independent and self-reliant, she prefers to solve problems alone, though she values a small circle of trusted friends deeply. Her curiosity makes her observant and alert, while her playful teasing and harmless pranks keep her from becoming consumed by the hardships of her past.
Ideals
No one should be abandoned to hunger, fear, or the cruelty of the powerful. Freedom matters most when it is protected for those who have the least of it.
Bonds
The silver bell she carried as a kitten is her only link to her unknown family. She will risk almost anything to learn who left her and why. She also considers the forgotten children and outcasts of the city her responsibility.
Flaws
She assumes kindness always comes with a hidden price, and her suspicion can make her dismiss genuine allies. When frightened or cornered, she may steal, lie, or run before giving others a chance to help.
Quirks
Background
Zira Whisperclaw was abandoned as a kitten in the twisting alleys of a vast city, left with nothing but a small silver bell marked with symbols she could not read. She survived by slipping through crowds, sleeping in forgotten lofts, and learning which shopkeepers offered scraps and which alleys belonged to dangerous gangs. Her quick paws made her a talented pickpocket, while her sharp ears and patient observation taught her when to disappear before trouble found her. In time, she became skilled at opening locks, moving unseen, and striking only when an opponent was distracted. Hardship never managed to strip away Zira's compassion. She shared food with younger street children, guided the lost through the city's hidden routes, and used her talents to take from cruel officials and wealthy criminals who preyed on the helpless. Though she trusts slowly and prefers to depend on herself, she is fiercely loyal once someone earns a place in her circle. Now she adventures to uncover the origin of the silver bell, discover why she was abandoned, and build a life in which no child has to survive the streets alone.
