Appearance
An albino tabaxi with snow white fur, pale pink eyes, and faint silver freckles across the cheeks and shoulders. Slender and quick, they favor layered travel robes in bright tropical colors, with vines, shells, and small carved talismans hanging from a satchel of spellbooks. Their tail flicks constantly when excited, and they look most alive in warm jungle light or near rain-soaked greenery.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly at first, then gets animated when discussing old legends or practical magic. They tap claw tips against bookshelves when thinking, and their tail curls protectively around objects they care about. When nervous, they clean dust from pages with meticulous care, as if respect alone might keep dangerous words from waking.
Personality
Warm, earnest, and relentlessly curious. Saffron treats strangers like future neighbors and believes every problem has a clever, compassionate answer if you are willing to keep looking. They are especially gentle with the poor, the sick, and anyone dismissed as useless.
Ideals
Knowledge should serve the people. Secrets are not precious because they are hidden, they are precious because they can protect, heal, or free someone who has been trapped by ignorance.
Bonds
My village gave me everything, and I will repay that debt by protecting common folk wherever I go. I keep a careful list of every person who has ever shown my family kindness, and I intend to return every favor.
Flaws
I cannot resist opening sealed pages, forbidden tomes, or suspicious relics, even when wiser people beg me to leave them alone. I also overpromise help, then push myself too hard trying to be every village's savior.
Quirks
Background
Saffron was born to a poor family at the edge of a humid river village, where the roofs leaked in monsoon season and everyone depended on one another to survive. As a white-furred tabaxi, they were often stared at by outsiders, but the neighbors who knew them saw only a bright, curious child who never stopped asking questions. Saffron learned early that knowledge could mend more than wounds. A well-timed cantrip could cool a fever, a useful rumor could save a harvest, and a borrowed book could change a life. When the village needed help, Saffron was always there, hauling water, mending nets, and sneaking into the library of a passing scholar to copy whatever useful magic they could. Their hunger for learning soon reached beyond practical magic. Saffron became fascinated by old ruins, jungle shrines, and sealed vaults filled with rumors of cursed texts and forbidden formulae. They do not seek dark knowledge for power, but because every secret seems like another tool that could protect their people, heal a blight, or outwit a greedy lord. That curiosity made them invaluable and dangerous in equal measure. Now they travel with a bedroll, a spellbook, and the stubborn conviction that if some knowledge is too perilous to be left alone, then it deserves someone kind, clever, and relentless to carry it safely.
