Appearance
Nova is a human woman with a lean, athletic build shaped by years of covert operations, military discipline, and wilderness survival training. Her fair skin bears faint scars across her collarbone and forearm. She has sharp features, high cheekbones, a straight nose, pale blue eyes, and a chin-length asymmetrical blonde bob kept neatly away from her face. In modern settings, she wears dark, movement-friendly clothing or a matte black tactical bodysuit with charcoal modular armor, silent boots, gloves, utility pouches, and compact modern weapons. In fantasy settings, the same silhouette translates into dark fitted travel clothes, a hooded cloak, studded leather armor, throwing knives, and a longbow.
Mannerisms
Nova speaks in short, precise sentences and rarely repeats herself. She habitually studies exits, reflective surfaces, and the hands of everyone nearby. When thinking, she taps two fingers against her wrist as if checking an invisible watch. She keeps her voice level even under extreme pressure.
Personality
Nova is quiet, observant, and relentlessly methodical. She values competence above charm and trusts demonstrated action over promises. She is not cruel for pleasure, but she is willing to make lethal decisions when she believes hesitation will cost lives. Beneath her controlled exterior is a fiercely protective survivor who notices every weakness in a room and every tremor in a companion's voice.
Ideals
Competence is a form of mercy. The prepared protect the unprepared, and survival is not selfish when it creates the chance to protect someone else.
Bonds
She carries the insignia of her lost reconnaissance unit and will risk herself to protect soldiers, scouts, and operatives abandoned by their commanders. She also owes her freedom to the few people who helped her escape captivity, and she considers that debt sacred.
Flaws
Nova assumes every kindness has a hidden price. She can become cold, controlling, and needlessly ruthless when a plan begins to fail. She has difficulty accepting help, and her fear of captivity makes her react badly to confinement, interrogation, or anyone attempting to control her choices.
Quirks
Background
Nova was raised in a city where survival depended on reading the room before the room noticed you. She entered military service young, first as a scout and later as a reconnaissance specialist. Her talent for moving unseen, identifying weaknesses, and surviving far beyond the safety of friendly lines led her into increasingly covert assignments. She became known for returning with complete intelligence, even when the rest of her unit did not return at all. Her formal training taught her discipline, but the wilderness taught her patience. Forests, ruins, and hostile streets all became the same kind of terrain, each hiding threats that could be mapped, studied, and overcome.
