Appearance
Kebi is a lean, medium-sized tiefling with umber-red skin, swept-back black horns, a narrow face, and a long tail that curls around his ankle when he is thinking. His pale green eyes rarely settle on faces. Instead, they track doorways, windows, shadows, and the hands of everyone nearby. He dresses in a weather-stained dark robe over practical travel clothes, with a silver holy symbol from a forgotten temple hanging beside a softly glowing green crystal. The crystal is usually suspended in a cage of blackened wire at his throat. When Kebi becomes agitated, faint green light traces the veins in his hands, and the air around him smells briefly of rain on hot stone.
Mannerisms
Kebi stands slightly too close when he wants an answer and several steps too far away when someone shows him affection. During conversation, he watches exits and hands instead of faces. He touches the crystal before casting a serious spell, not as a prayer, but as if checking whether it is still listening.
Personality
Kebi is observant, self-contained, and disarmingly direct. He can spend hours walking without speaking, then interrupt a tense negotiation with one sharply accurate question. He is curious about nearly everything but emotionally evasive about himself. Although he claims to prefer solitude, he quietly studies the habits of companions and remembers small details they assume he has missed.
Ideals
Freedom. No god, devil, temple, or unseen intelligence owns my life. If the crystal wants obedience, it will have to survive my questions first.
Bonds
The glowing green crystal is the only possession Kebi had when he awakened, and he will risk almost anything to learn who placed it in his hands and what it wants from him. He also feels indebted to the old priest who gave him shelter, even though he fears that returning to the temple may bring danger to everyone there.
Flaws
Kebi distrusts anyone who claims to know him, because some part of him fears they may be telling the truth. He obeys the crystal's instructions more often than he admits, even when they are cruel, cryptic, or clearly opposed to his immediate interests. He also has a habit of abandoning people before they can become important to him.
Quirks
Background
Kebi Ravensworn remembers no childhood, no family, and no home. His first memory is waking in a ditch beside a forgotten road, soaked by cold rain and surrounded by trampled weeds. He wore travel-stained clothes that did not feel familiar, and clutched a strange green crystal that pulsed with a patient inner light. When he tried to throw it away, a voice spoke inside his skull. It did not give him a name or explain how he had come to the road. It only told him to keep walking. The crystal led him, through dreams and sudden flashes of impossible knowledge, to a remote temple where an elderly priest mistook his strange powers for a divine calling. Kebi learned prayers, funerary rites, sacred languages, and the discipline of serving people who were frightened or desperate. Yet the crystal continued to whisper beneath every hymn. Its voice is neither kind nor cruel. It calls itself a conduit, a window, and sometimes a patron, though it refuses to say what lies beyond it. Kebi eventually left the temple before its elders could decide whether he was blessed or possessed. Now he wanders alone, using sorcery that burns green and gold, searching for the forgotten road where his life began and the intelligence on the other side of the crystal.
