Appearance
ThunderBird is a broad-shouldered male dragonborn with blue-bronze scales, swept-back horns, and bright storm-gray eyes. Fine flecks of silver run along his jaw and neck like distant lightning. His scales are weathered and dulled at the shoulders and forearms from years of marching beneath sun, rain, and blowing grit. He wears practical chain mail beneath a blue-gray surcoat marked with a simple silver wing and carries a polished holy symbol on a cord around his neck. The cord is visibly worn where his thumb repeatedly rubs it during moments of concentration. A small brass gaming die hangs from his belt beside his healer's kit, a keepsake from his military unit.
Mannerisms
ThunderBird speaks in an even, measured tone, even during danger. Before making a decision, he briefly taps his worn holy-symbol cord twice against his chest. When discussing tactics, he arranges nearby objects into rough battlefield formations without noticing.
Personality
ThunderBird remains calm when others panic and prefers to solve problems through preparation, positioning, and careful observation. He is strategic without being cold, often noticing who is frightened or overlooked before anyone else does. His soft heart occasionally overrides his better judgment, especially when an enemy surrenders or a stranger asks for help. He believes mercy should be deliberate, not careless, but he is still learning the difference.
Ideals
Protection. Strength exists to shelter those who have less of it. A clever plan is valuable, but compassion is the reason to make the plan in the first place.
Bonds
He carries the brass gaming die of his former unit's field surgeon, who died saving soldiers during the ravine retreat. ThunderBird has sworn to protect the families of every soldier who did not return, even when doing so costs him time, money, or safety. His faith is devoted to the preservation of life and the belief that every person deserves a chance to choose a better path.
Flaws
ThunderBird is so determined to protect the vulnerable that he can be manipulated by anyone who appears helpless. He dislikes improvisation when lives are at stake and sometimes overplans simple situations. He also has difficulty accepting praise, because he suspects that every compliment hides an expectation.
Quirks
Background
ThunderBird was hatched in a highland dragonborn settlement where storms were treated as both warning and blessing. He learned early to read the sky, the ground, and the expressions of frightened people. His sharp mind made him an effective battlefield planner, while his steady presence made frightened recruits trust him. During a disastrous campaign against raiders and undead, ThunderBird disobeyed an order to abandon a field hospital. He organized a disciplined retreat through a flooded ravine, personally carrying the wounded while using the first hints of divine power to keep them alive. The survivors returned home, but ThunderBird never again believed that victory mattered if the helpless were left behind.
