Appearance
Malice is a lean, dark-skinned drow woman with white hair cut to her jaw and bound into three practical cords behind her left ear. Her red eyes are steady and unsentimental, with a faint web-pattern of ritual scars crossing her right cheek and throat. She wears blackened chain mail beneath layered crimson, violet, and bone-white robes, arranged like a surface samurai's lamellar armor. A curved longsword hangs at her hip, while a shorter blade, needles, garrote wire, and tiny venom vials are concealed throughout her clothing. A silver spider holy symbol rests against her sternum, partly hidden beneath her wrappings.
Mannerisms
Malice pauses before answering, as though listening to a spider moving somewhere nearby. She cleans her blade after every fight, even if it never left its sheath. When someone lies to her, she does not interrupt, she simply becomes very still and smiles with one corner of her mouth.
Personality
Malice is quiet, observant, and intensely controlled. She speaks in short practical sentences, rarely raises her voice, and treats discomfort as a form of prayer. She admires competence regardless of species, but never confuses admiration with trust. To her, every alliance is a temporary arrangement, every promise a thread, and every thread something that can be cut.
Ideals
Devotion. A blade has no identity apart from the hand that directs it. I have given my name to Lolth, and obedience is the only freedom worth possessing.
Bonds
Lolth chose Malice when no one else could see her worth. She will destroy anyone who claims to speak for Lolth while placing personal ambition above the Spider Queen's will.
Flaws
She interprets mercy as weakness and kindness as a trap, even when both are genuine. She cannot resist turning a fair contest into an unfair one, because victory without betrayal feels spiritually empty. Deep down, she fears that Lolth did not choose her at all, and that the spiders merely exposed a talent she wanted to mistake for divine purpose.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia of House Travra, a minor but ambitious drow house that measured every daughter by her usefulness to Lolth. She entered the temple as an aspiring priestess, learning scripture, poison lore, sacrificial rites, and the patient cruelty expected of one who wished to rise. She had the voice for sermons, the memory for doctrine, and the instincts of a survivor, but she lacked the appetite for the public rivalries that consumed the priesthood. In the temple's shadowed passages, she was more often found studying blades and watching how the guards moved than competing for ceremonial favor. Then the spiders came for her. During a night of omens, a mass of sacred spiders covered her body without biting, weaving a black veil over her face and laying a single curved blade across her hands. The priestesses declared that Lolth had claimed her for a different purpose. Aurelia abandoned her house name, her rank, and the expectation of becoming a conventional priestess. She took the name Malice because it was not a person who could be betrayed, only a function that could be performed. She now travels as Lolth's blade, wearing colorful surface-inspired robes over drow armor and practicing a private Bushido called the Way of the Black Widow. It honors patience, beauty, hidden weapons, venom, pain, and victory achieved by whatever unfairness the Spider Queen finds amusing.
