- Divine SenseLevel 1
As an action, Tomyn can open his awareness to detect the presence of strong evil or good until the end of his next turn. He knows the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet that is not behind total cover, and he knows the type of any being whose presence he senses, but not its identity. He can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 plus his Charisma modifier, regaining all expended uses after a long rest.

Appearance
Tomyn is a broad-shouldered earth genasi with slate-gray skin, dark mineral flecks along his jaw and forearms, and heavy black hair threaded with bands of iron-gray. His eyes have a muted amber sheen, like lamplight caught in polished stone. He wears well-maintained chainmail beneath a tabard bearing Helm's vigilant eye, and an open-face helm marked with small runic inscriptions. His large shield displays Helm's holy symbol in raised silver, while a longsword rests in his hand, a morning star hangs from his belt, and a long dagger rides at his opposite side. Within moments of meeting him, most people notice that he repeatedly checks the straps of his shield and touches the runes on his helm whenever he hears an unfamiliar sound.
Mannerisms
Tomyn speaks in a measured, formal tone and rarely raises his voice. He positions himself where he can see every entrance, checks his shield straps before sitting down, and touches the runic inscriptions on his helm when something unsettles him. When listening to a confession or report, he remains completely still except for one slow nod at the end.
Personality
Tomyn is disciplined, patient, and relentlessly attentive. He is slow to trust but dependable once a person has earned his confidence. He prefers clear rules, direct statements, and plans with assigned responsibilities. Beneath his stern exterior is a quiet tenderness toward travelers, miners, children, and anyone forced to stand watch alone.
Ideals
Duty. A guardian's worth is measured by what stands unharmed behind him. The law exists to protect the vulnerable, and obedience to a just duty is holier than personal glory.
Bonds
The temple that raised him entrusted Tomyn with a shield bearing an old silver symbol of Helm. He will risk himself to return it if it is ever lost, defaced, or taken by an enemy of the faith.
Flaws
Tomyn is so committed to vigilance that he can become suspicious of harmless mistakes and ordinary secrecy. He would rather inconvenience an entire group with precautions than admit that he overlooked a threat, and he sometimes treats compassion as a weakness that must be carefully supervised.
Quirks
Background
Tomyn was born beneath the stone terraces of a mining settlement in the North, where his earth genasi nature was regarded as both omen and laborer's blessing. As a child, he could feel the tremors of collapsing galleries before the supports gave way. The priests of Helm took him in after one such warning saved a dozen miners, teaching him that vigilance was not merely the absence of sleep, but a sacred discipline. He served as an acolyte, copying prayers, maintaining temple defenses, and standing night watches beneath the unblinking eye of the Watcher. When he came of age, Tomyn joined a knightly brotherhood devoted to Helm in Faerun. His training combined martial discipline with the patient habits of a temple guardian. He learned to hold a doorway against superior numbers, to identify the first sign of treachery, and to place himself between danger and those who could not withstand it. Now he travels as a newly sworn paladin, carrying the authority of his faith but not yet its full miracles. He believes the road itself is a watch post, and every stranger, ruin, and whispered rumor may conceal a duty that Helm has placed before him.
