Appearance
Diddy is a broad-shouldered, medium-height aasimar with warm brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and faint golden light that gathers around his hands whenever he prays. His eyes are dark and expressive, but his celestial nature shows in the subtle halo-like shimmer around his silhouette when he is emotional. He wears a chain shirt beneath a deliberately oversized military coat, its sleeves repaired with mismatched red and white thread. His holy symbol is polished obsessively and hangs beside a battered gaming die on a cord around his neck. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice his smooth, unusually measured speaking voice. When calm, he speaks like a practiced host addressing a private audience. When frightened or angry, his breath catches between words, and he begins tapping a steady rhythm against his shield.
Mannerisms
Diddy speaks with polished confidence and often addresses strangers as if they are already honored guests. He punctuates important statements with a soft tap of his fingers against his shield. Before casting a healing spell, he straightens the target's clothing or adjusts their posture, insisting that the wounded deserve dignity. When rattled, his breath becomes audible and his voice drops into a whisper before suddenly returning to theatrical volume.
Personality
Diddy is charismatic despite having almost no actual social grace. He loves grand entrances, dramatic speeches, expensive-looking gestures, and making frightened people laugh. He is generous with food, medicine, and praise, but deeply sensitive to being dismissed. Beneath the swagger is a disciplined soldier who notices exits, counts allies, and instinctively places himself between danger and civilians.
Ideals
Freedom. No order, god, commander, or crowd has the right to make me abandon someone who cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
I deserted the commander who sacrificed civilians, and I will one day expose the order and the people who gave it.
Flaws
I mistake attention for affection and can turn a serious moment into a performance if I feel ignored. I also make promises before I have considered the danger, then rely on charm, prayer, and stubbornness to survive the consequences.
Quirks
Background
Diddy remembers almost nothing of childhood except music, polished floors, and the expectation that every room should turn toward him when he entered it. He came of age in a traveling military entertainment corps that performed for troops between campaigns, where he learned to read a crowd, keep a rhythm, and survive the dangerous vanity of officers who wanted applause more than truth. When the corps was attached to a real battlefield, Diddy discovered that his voice could do more than command attention. It could steady panicked soldiers, call the wounded back from the edge of death, and fill a dark camp with golden light. That was when the chaplains recognized the celestial spark in him and taught him the first prayers of the gods. Diddy served as a soldier, but never became comfortable with the idea that obedience was automatically virtuous. He deserted after being ordered to abandon civilians during a retreat, taking only his spear, shield, healer's kit, and a pouch of dice from the officers' tent. Now he wanders as a cleric who treats every battlefield like a stage where courage must be made visible. He is flamboyant, generous, and far too fond of dramatic entrances, but his bravado conceals a sincere need to prove that power is measured by who gets protected. He wants people to remember him, yes, but he wants them alive to do it.
