Appearance
A sturdy, weathered human with olive-brown skin, dark hazel eyes, and thick black hair cut short with a practical knife. A pale scar crosses the left eyebrow. They wear scale mail beneath a faded blue-gray cloak, carry a round wooden shield painted with a simple sunburst, and keep their holy symbol tucked beneath the collar. Their hands are stained with ink, herbs, and lamp oil.
Mannerisms
Nadim rubs the edge of their holy symbol with one thumb while thinking. They pause before answering difficult questions, then speak with careful precision. When treating an injury, they mutter fragments of old prayers in Arabic and Georgian-influenced family speech.
Personality
Quietly attentive and practical, Nadim remembers small details about people, such as which hand they favor, what food they cannot stomach, or who they are afraid to disappoint. They are patient with the ignorant but have little tolerance for deliberate cruelty disguised as tradition.
Ideals
Knowledge is a public trust. A truth that can save a life should never be hoarded by priests, nobles, or scholars.
Bonds
The shrine library that trained me sheltered my family during a famine. I will defend it, its people, and its teachings even when doing so costs me dearly.
Flaws
I mistake being well informed for being wise. When frightened, I become pedantic, argumentative, and unable to admit that I do not know what to do.
Quirks
Background
Nadim Tsiklauri was raised in a crowded riverside quarter where his family repaired carts, mended fishing nets, and copied letters for neighbors who could not read. He learned early that knowledge was a kind of bread. A fair measure of it kept people from being cheated, while a missing word in a contract could ruin a household. Nadim became an eager student at a small shrine library, where an elderly priest taught him scripture, medicinal practice, and the patient discipline of listening before speaking. When a fever swept through the district, Nadim stayed behind after the wealthier families fled. He organized supplies, translated old remedies, and prayed beside the dying until the temple's bells stopped ringing. The experience convinced him that wisdom was not meant to be locked in books. Now he travels as a cleric of the Life Domain, carrying a scholar's notes alongside bandages and a mace. He seeks forgotten healing traditions, protects ordinary people from those who exploit ignorance, and quietly records the names of everyone he fails to save.
“He learned early that knowledge was a kind of bread.”
