Appearance
A broad-shouldered young orc with moss-green skin, a rounded face, a flattened nose, and unusually gentle brown eyes. His lower tusks are small and neatly filed, and his dark hair is tied into a short topknot with faded blue thread. He wears patched brown clothing beneath a simple monk's sash, with a shortsword at his hip and a bundle of darts across his back. His hands are heavily callused from climbing, begging, fighting, and endless practice.
Mannerisms
He taps two fingers against his temple whenever he announces an idea, then leans forward as if expecting the entire room to recognize its brilliance. When forced to listen, he folds his arms, narrows his eyes, and silently mouths the words he thinks the speaker should be saying.
Personality
Murzun is energetic, opinionated, and relentlessly certain that he is the smartest person present. He studies everyone around him for weaknesses and useful talents, then immediately explains how those talents should be used. Despite his arrogance, he is surprisingly willing to accept another leader after a convincing argument, and he respects people who can outthink him without humiliating him.
Ideals
Leadership belongs to the person with the best plan. Murzun believes that everyone is safer when someone decisive takes charge, especially when that someone is him.
Bonds
He is fiercely loyal to the street children who raised him and sends part of every reward back to the old market district. He also carries the worn blue thread given to him by his first teacher, determined to prove that an orc from the gutters can become a master of disciplined combat.
Flaws
He is convinced that confidence and volume are signs of intelligence. He interrupts constantly, takes disagreement as a personal challenge, and will sometimes follow a bad plan rather than admit that someone else was right. His pride makes him easy to manipulate with compliments about his cleverness.
Quirks
Background
Murzun grew up beneath the market bridges of a crowded river city, where merchants learned to shoo him away and street children learned that his size made him useful. He carried messages, stole fruit, slept in abandoned sheds, and developed an instinct for which guards were lazy and which shopkeepers were cruel. Though he was often the largest child in the alley, he insisted that he was also the cleverest, explaining every failed theft as the result of someone else refusing to follow his superior plan. His life changed when an aging wandering monk found him trying to intimidate a group of older thieves. The monk did not praise Murzun's strength. Instead, he pointed out that Murzun had watched every opponent carefully before speaking, then taught him how patience could turn a clumsy punch into a precise strike. Murzun joined the monk for a time, learning discipline, footwork, and the names of muscles he still cannot pronounce. He now travels as a self-appointed leader, offering plans to anyone who will listen. He can accept another person taking charge, but only after he has explained why his own plan was better.
