Appearance
Panniz is a lean wood elf woman with copper-brown skin, sharp green eyes, and long dark hair threaded with feathers, pine needles, and bits of polished bone. Her travel-stained cloak is mottled in forest colors, and a thin scar crosses her left eyebrow. She carries herself like a wary animal, always balanced on the balls of her feet, with a longbow across her back and twin shortswords at her hips.
Mannerisms
Panniz rarely sits with her back to an open space. She pauses before entering any room, studies the ceiling and corners, and speaks in a low, thoughtful voice as though trying not to disturb the surrounding air. When considering a question, she rubs a thumb over the fletching of an arrow.
Personality
Panniz is observant, independent, and fiercely curious. She speaks plainly, dislikes unnecessary ceremony, and has a dry sense of humor that often appears at inappropriate moments. Though she claims to prefer solitude, she is quietly protective of anyone who earns her trust. She is fascinated by odd tracks, unexplained sounds, unusual plants, and people who survive situations they had no business surviving.
Ideals
Freedom. No creature should be owned, controlled, or forced to live according to rules created by someone else. The wild is dangerous, but at least its dangers are honest.
Bonds
The silent grove is still waiting for her return, and Panniz will risk nearly anything to uncover what poisoned it. She also guards her weathered scroll case, which contains the last written words of the hermit who taught her how to interpret the forest's unnatural signs.
Flaws
Panniz assumes civilization is hiding a lie behind every polite word. She is stubborn when challenged, quick to abandon plans that feel too orderly, and sometimes treats people as sources of information rather than companions. When frightened, she becomes reckless, convinced that retreat only gives unseen dangers more time to prepare.
Quirks
Background
Panniz was born beneath the ancient boughs of a deep woodland where the trees were older than most elven kingdoms. She never fit comfortably among her kin. While other young elves learned courtly songs and ancestral histories, Panniz preferred following fox tracks through the underbrush and sleeping beneath the stars. Her talent with a bow became apparent early, though her teachers often complained that she ignored formal instruction whenever the forest offered a more interesting lesson. In adulthood, Panniz withdrew into a remote stone shelter after witnessing an unnatural silence spread through a section of the forest. Birds vanished, insects stopped singing, and even the trees seemed to hold their breath. During years of solitude, she studied the phenomenon, gathered strange samples, and filled a scroll case with observations that suggest the silence was not a natural event. She now travels beyond the forest to find the source of the disturbance, selling her skills as a tracker and hunter while searching for anyone who has seen the same signs. Panniz does not believe destiny has chosen her, but she is convinced the wilderness is trying to warn her, and she intends to listen.
