Appearance
A broad-shouldered half-elf with sun-bright hazel eyes, long black hair tied back with a silver clasp, and a scholar's careful hands marked by old ink stains. He wears polished chain mail beneath a blue-and-gold surcoat, with a shield bearing a simple radiant sigil and a longsword kept spotless despite constant travel. His expression is composed and thoughtful, as if he is always weighing the truth of a thing before deciding how to answer.
Mannerisms
He speaks softly and precisely, often pausing as if choosing the most accurate word from a shelf of invisible books. When thinking, he unconsciously taps two fingers against his shield rim in a steady rhythm, like a scholar counting lines in a poem.
Personality
Measured, courteous, and relentlessly inquisitive, Odran treats every conversation like a text worth studying. He is patient with the ignorant, stern with the cruel, and surprisingly gentle with frightened people, especially children and apprentices. Beneath his calm exterior is a stubborn fire that will not allow him to ignore injustice once it has been named.
Ideals
Duty. Knowledge must do more than sit on a shelf, it must preserve the innocent and guide the just hand. Every truth is a shield if it is carried with discipline.
Bonds
He carries the charred signet of his former mentor, and will not rest until the raiders who destroyed the archive are named, judged, and made to answer for what they stole. He also protects any temple, library, or school as though it were his own bloodline.
Flaws
He can become infuriatingly certain that the correct answer is also the moral one, and he sometimes mistakes careful planning for righteousness. When his pride is pricked, he grows cold and pedantic, turning conflict into a lecture even when mercy would serve better.
Quirks
Background
Odran Vale was born between worlds and expected to belong fully to neither. His elven mother taught him patience, memory, and the value of names, while his human father, a caravan guard turned temple scribe, taught him that knowledge without the will to defend it was only decoration. Odran grew into a serious student, and by the time he was old enough to carry a sword, he had already spent more years in archives than in taverns. He believed the greatest battles were fought with records, arguments, and careful precedent, until a band of raiders burned the library that had become his second home.
