Fren is a tall, gentle Firbolg with soft grey-blue skin, a wide pink nose, and thick, curly moss-green hair tied back with a leather string. They wear a heavy, soot-stained leather apron over scale mail, with various ladles, spice pouches, and tongs hanging from their belt. Their eyes are a warm honey color, and they always smell faintly of rosemary and woodsmoke.

Quietly methodical and intensely caring, Fren believes that there is no problem that cannot be softened by a hot meal. They speak softly to their ingredients and view magic as simply another seasoning to be used in moderation.

Fren was once the designated gatherer for a secluded firbolg enclave, responsible for finding the rare mosses and mushrooms that sustained their tribe. During a particularly harsh winter, they realized that raw ingredients were not enough to keep morale high. They began experimenting with heat and distillation, eventually discovering that the magical properties of the forest could be concentrated through careful cooking. This passion for 'gastronomic alchemy' eventually led them out of the forest and into the bustling city. Fren joined the local Cook's Guild, though many of their colleagues found the firbolg's habit of talking to the vegetables quite disturbing. They eventually earned the title of Chef, though they prefer the simple familiarity of 'Fren'. Now, they travel the world in search of forgotten recipes that can heal the soul and provide strength to those in need. They carry an infused alchemy jug that they affectionately call their Gravy Boat, using it to provide nourishment in even the most barren dungeons.
