Appearance
A small copper-scaled kobold with bright amber eyes, a tapered snout, and a whipcord lean build honed by constant movement. He wears simple monk wraps, a worn travel sash, and carries himself with a quiet, spring-loaded energy. His tail is usually tucked neatly behind him unless he is agitated, at which point it flicks like a striking snake.
Mannerisms
He speaks softly at first, then punctuates important points with sudden, precise hand motions like a kata. When thinking, he taps two fingers against his throat or sniffs the air as if reading the world by scent.
Personality
Quietly earnest and unexpectedly courteous, Sszarik prefers careful listening to loud boasting. He is patient with the frightened, relentless with the cruel, and a little suspicious of anyone who has never gone hungry.
Ideals
Mercy, strength should protect, not dominate. The road teaches that the smallest traveler still deserves safety, dignity, and a chance to keep going.
Bonds
He carries a cracked shrine token from the place where his clutch was raised, and he will risk himself to keep it from being lost, stolen, or desecrated. He also feels responsible for any frightened traveler who reminds him of his younger self.
Flaws
He bristles when treated as fragile, and sometimes overcompensates by taking reckless risks to prove himself. He also struggles to trust authority, especially anyone who talks about order while ignoring the weak.
Quirks
Background
Sszarik was hatched in the shadow of a ruined hill shrine, where his clutch was expected to serve stronger folk and keep out of sight. Instead, he was the one who watched the old stone patterns, copied the breath exercises of a wandering monk, and learned that discipline could make even a small body feel like a storm. When raiders burned the shrine and scattered his people, Sszarik fled into the wilds with only a staff, a stubborn heart, and the monk's promise that strength could be quiet, precise, and kind. Years of wandering hardened him into an Outlander who knew the taste of rainwater, the shape of safe paths, and how to survive on less than most creatures would consider enough. He now travels from place to place helping the lost, guiding caravans through dangerous roads, and striking down bullies who think size is the same as worth. Though he still bows instinctively to dragons and ancient symbols of power, he has chosen a different path, one where his people are not timid scavengers, but vigilant guardians of the road.
