Appearance
Yuki is a lean, silver-gray Tabaxi with dark charcoal markings along her ears, forearms, and tail. Her large amber eyes are bright with restless curiosity, and her sharp canines show prominently whenever she eats, grins, or laughs. She wears scuffed leather armor beneath a moss-green hooded coat, with a violet silk cord tied around one wrist as a token of her fey patron. She smells faintly of cedar smoke, rain-damp wool, and the sweet mint she constantly chews without realizing it.
Mannerisms
Yuki crouches on the balls of her feet whenever she is thinking, flicks the tip of her tail when she is lying, and rolls a mint leaf between her teeth while listening. She habitually tests every door handle she passes, even in friendly homes.
Personality
Yuki is alert, playful, and suspiciously generous. She treats locks as puzzles, authority as a dare, and silence as an invitation to investigate. Beneath her quick jokes is a careful observer who notices who has eaten, who is afraid, and who is being ignored. She is warm toward outcasts and children, but she becomes cold and theatrical when dealing with people who use rules to excuse cruelty.
Ideals
Freedom. No person, law, god, or patron has the right to turn another living being into property. If a rule protects cruelty, breaking it is an act of mercy.
Bonds
She carries a stolen brass key that belonged to her old crew's leader. It opens a vault containing evidence that could free hundreds of imprisoned debtors, and she will risk almost anything to recover it.
Flaws
She cannot resist proving that she can bypass a lock, trick a guard, or escape a trap, even when quietly walking away would be wiser. She also distrusts authority so instinctively that she sometimes sabotages a good plan simply because someone respectable suggested it.
Quirks
Background
Yuki grew up among the tiled roofs, laundry lines, and locked counting rooms of a crowded river city. Her quick paws and quicker eyes made her an exceptional burglar, first lifting purses for survival and later opening vaults for a small crew that admired her nerve. She preferred stealing from hoarders, corrupt magistrates, and merchants who underpaid their workers, but her crew cared more about profit than principles. When they planned to rob a hidden shrine belonging to an ancient fey power, Yuki objected. They went without her, and only she returned when the shrine's guardian called to her through the dark, offering power in exchange for one promise: never allow greed to become law. Yuki accepted the pact and used her new magic to expose the crew's leader, who had been selling children and debtors to a private prison. The betrayal left her hunted by the city watch and marked as untrustworthy by her former associates, so she now travels from place to place as a thief who steals selectively. Her patron, a capricious archfey known as the Lady Beneath the Briar Moon, rewards clever acts of mercy but delights in inconvenient tests. Yuki is determined to remain free, useful, and kind without becoming anyone's obedient instrument.
