Appearance
Aurelia is a statuesque drow woman with obsidian skin, long silver-white hair, and luminous violet eyes that seem to catch the movements of unseen spiders. Her beauty is severe and otherworldly, sharpened by high cheekbones, a poised expression, and an unnervingly calm smile. She wears polished chain mail beneath dark noble's traveling clothes, a spider-silk cloak, and a crimson sash bearing House Malice's insignia. Her slender sabre is decorated with a spider-shaped guard, and a black shield carries a silver web design.
Mannerisms
Aurelia tilts her head when questioning someone, as though listening to a spider move through a web. She maintains unbroken eye contact, speaks in precise measured phrases, and touches the spider-shaped guard of her sabre whenever she makes a promise.
Personality
Elegant, observant, and unnervingly patient, Aurelia treats every conversation as an interrogation and every room as a web of competing motives. She is genuinely protective of those she considers part of her household, though her protection is possessive and often indistinguishable from control. Her divine heritage has made her confident, but not secure. Beneath her poise is a constant hunger to prove that she is more than Lolth's experiment.
Ideals
Authority. The world is a web, and someone must stand at its center. Those who cannot command deserve to be commanded.
Bonds
House Malice gave me power when the temple would have claimed me, and I will restore its supremacy even if I must tear the family apart to do so.
Flaws
I mistake obedience for virtue and become dangerously calm when challenged. I cannot resist proving that I am the most important person in the room, even when silence would serve me better.
Quirks
Background
Aurelia Malice was born during a night when every spider in House Malice's ancestral fortress descended from the ceilings and arranged themselves around the newborn child in a perfect silver web. The priestesses declared it a miracle of Lolth, but the matron of House Malice understood the more dangerous truth. Aurelia was not merely blessed. She was a mortal-divine child, touched by Lolth's essence and marked for a purpose that no priestess could fully interpret. Rather than surrender her to the temple, the house raised her as an inquisitor, teaching her that faith was most useful when it inspired fear, obedience, and carefully measured doubt. Aurelia became an investigator of her family's enemies, using a sabre with surgical precision and a network of spiders as her informants. She learned to read the silences between words, the tremor in a suspect's hand, and the invisible geometry of a web disturbed by movement. Her beauty opened doors that armor could not, while her divine presence made those who betrayed her feel watched even in empty rooms. Now she travels beyond the Underdark under House Malice's authority, seeking heretical secrets, gathering leverage, and testing whether Lolth's miracle intends to make her a servant, a weapon, or a rival.
“The priestesses declared it a miracle of Lolth, but the matron of House Malice understood the more dangerous truth.”
