Appearance
Marra is a lean, athletic tiefling woman with crimson-red skin, swept-back black hair, and curved ivory horns decorated with tiny brass rings. Her amber eyes glow warmly in dim light, and a long, expressive tail curls behind her whenever she is excited or irritated. She favors a flame-colored entertainer's costume reinforced with dark leather panels, fingerless gloves, and a soot-stained red scarf. Her movements are quick, theatrical, and deliberately confident, even when she is nervous.
Mannerisms
Marra speaks with a performer’s practiced confidence, punctuating boasts with graceful flourishes of her hands. She drums her fingers in rhythmic patterns when thinking, tilts her head when suspicious, and unconsciously warms nearby candles when embarrassed. When Aelarion is mentioned, her tail gives away her feelings long before her expression does.
Personality
Feisty, independent, and quick with a cutting joke, Marra refuses to let anyone see how easily she can be hurt. She performs confidence as naturally as she performs fire dancing, but beneath the bravado she is fiercely compassionate toward the lonely, rejected, and powerless. She is protective of people she loves, particularly Aelarion, though she disguises her concern with teasing, mockery, and dramatic complaints.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be owned, controlled, or forced to become what society expects. People deserve the chance to choose their own lives, even if their choices are messy, dangerous, or unconventional.
Bonds
Marra would risk anything for the performers and workers of the Wandering Cinder, the only family that treated her as more than a curiosity. She is also hopelessly in love with Aelarion, a male High Elf noble whose kindness and loneliness she recognized beneath his polished manners. She pretends his affection is an amusing game, but secretly dreams of proving that a tiefling circus performer can stand beside him as an equal.
Flaws
Marra assumes that anyone offering kindness must eventually want something from her. She can be reckless when challenged, especially if someone insults her heritage or treats another outsider as disposable. Her fear of being controlled makes her push away the people she loves, and she often turns sincere feelings into jokes before anyone can see how deeply she cares.
Quirks
Background
Marra was born beneath the canvas of the Wandering Cinder, a traveling circus that crossed dusty roads, river towns, and glittering noble markets. Her tiefling heritage made her a spectacle before she ever learned to perform, so she decided that if people were going to stare, they would do it while she was dancing through a ring of fire. She became famous for fire eating, flame juggling, and a daring style of fire dancing that left audiences breathless. The first sparks of her sorcery appeared during a performance when the flames bent toward her hands instead of consuming her, revealing that the fire was not merely a trick of oil, wick, and careful breath.
