Appearance
Sarsus is a tall, lean air genasi with blue-gray skin that seems faintly translucent around the fingers and temples. His silver-white hair drifts as though underwater, even in still rooms, and his pale eyes carry the restless motion of distant storm clouds. He dresses in a carefully maintained scholar's robe beneath light leather armor, with copper clasps etched in geometric patterns. His hands are unusually prominent, long-fingered and ink-stained, with calluses along the sides of his fingers from years of copying manuscripts and inscribing arcane diagrams. He constantly adjusts the brass ring on his right index finger, checking its position whenever he is thinking.
Mannerisms
Sarsus speaks in carefully structured sentences and pauses to revise his wording when he thinks he has been imprecise. He touches or rotates the brass ring on his finger whenever he is considering a bargain, danger, or unanswered question. When irritated, he begins correcting grammar under his breath.
Personality
Sarsus is patient, observant, and intensely formal. He listens to every side of an argument, not from indecision but because he believes judgment without complete evidence is a form of intellectual laziness. He is quietly protective of displaced people and outsiders, having spent much of his life being treated as an exotic curiosity rather than a colleague. In conversation he can seem distant, but he remembers small details about everyone he meets and records them in a private index.
Ideals
Order. Knowledge becomes useful only when it is preserved, classified, and placed in the hands of someone capable of using it responsibly.
Bonds
He carries the final unfinished manuscript of his dead mentor and refuses to let the work be destroyed or forgotten. He is also determined to find the original homeland of the entity that grants his power, believing that the answer will reveal why his own people have begun appearing in records far from their ancestral lands.
Flaws
Sarsus believes every problem can be solved by finding the correct text, clause, or precedent. He becomes cold and pedantic when frightened, and he is dangerously reluctant to admit that his pact may have been written to benefit the patron far more than himself. He also judges people who reject uncomfortable truths, even when compassion would serve them better.

Background
Sarsus G uyania was born in a wind-carved settlement far from the cities where he now travels. His family belonged to a scattered community of air genasi who treated weather patterns as both natural phenomena and ancestral language. Sarsus, however, was more interested in written records than oral tradition. He became fascinated by the way different cultures described the same sky, storm, and spirit, and eventually left home to study in libraries that had never heard of his people. His transplantation into a foreign region was not entirely voluntary. While assisting a remote monastery with the cataloging of pre-imperial texts, Sarsus discovered a sealed account describing a presence that answered questions through written symbols appearing in empty margins. He copied the symbols, believing them to be a forgotten cipher. Something answered. The entity offered him a bargain: knowledge of hidden roads between worlds in exchange for service as its witness and interpreter. Sarsus accepted under carefully written terms, though he still suspects that at least one clause changed after he signed it. Now he travels as a scholar and warlock, gathering lore, testing the limits of his pact, and searching for the place from which he was truly transplanted.
