- Favored EnemyLevel 1
You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track your favored enemies, and on Intelligence checks to recall information about them. You also learn one language spoken by your favored enemies. Arla has chosen dragons, reflecting the perilous ruins she explores. Language learned: Draconic.
- Natural ExplorerLevel 1
You are adept at surviving in the wilderness and in familiar natural terrain. While traveling for an hour or more, you gain benefits such as difficult terrain not slowing your group's travel, remaining alert to danger, and moving stealthily at a normal pace. Arla's favored terrain is underground and ruin-choked tunnels, the labyrinthine bones of the dragon that raised her.
- Fighting Style, ArcheryLevel 2
You adopt a fighting style that reflects your combat training. Arla fights with Archery, gaining a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
- SpellcastingLevel 2
You can draw on the hidden magic of the natural world to cast ranger spells. You know three 1st-level ranger spells, and you regain your spell slots when you finish a long rest.
- Ranger Archetype, Hunter, Colossus SlayerLevel 3
At 3rd level, you choose a ranger archetype. Arla is a Hunter. Her choice of Hunter's Prey is Colossus Slayer, once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, the creature takes an extra 1d8 damage if it is below its hit point maximum. This suits her precision in rescue and combat alike.

Appearance
Arla is a lean half-elf woman with weather-bronzed skin, bright hazel eyes, and dark auburn hair usually tied back for travel. She wears practical scale mail marked with scratches and soot stains from the dragon carcasses, and keeps a rescue coil, compass, and chalk marks close at hand. There is a constant alertness in her posture, as if she is listening for a distant cry beneath the stone ribs of the old beast.
Mannerisms
Arla speaks softly when things are tense, as if she is afraid of startling the frightened. She counts exits, checks broken stone for collapse, and unconsciously taps two fingers against her wrist when thinking. When she promises to find someone, she usually does it with a hand over her heart, as if sealing an oath.
Personality
Arla is compassionate, stubborn, and quietly fearless in the presence of danger, though not in the presence of suffering. She has a habit of challenging authority when rules get in the way of decency, but she treats the powerless with immediate respect. She is patient with the lost, relentless with the cruel, and hopelessly determined to prove that survival can be a shared victory.
Ideals
Mercy. No one should be left to die alone if there is still breath in their lungs. Hope is not foolishness, it is a duty.
Bonds
My father vanished in the dragon's remains, and I will not stop searching until I know what happened to him. I am fiercely loyal to my rescue brigade, because they are the only people who understand that every life pulled back from the dark matters.
Flaws
I have a hard time trusting anyone who values procedure more than people. When someone is missing, I become reckless and tunnel-visioned, and I will risk myself far too readily if it means getting one more person out alive.
Quirks
Background
Arla was born in a village that had grown in the shadow, and then inside the shadow, of an ancient dragon's corpse. The creature's hollowed ribs and fused bones became roads, homes, and rumors, and every few seasons bold adventurers entered the dragon in search of treasure, relics, or some forgotten heart of magic. Arla was never fascinated by the stories of those who went in smiling. She watched the healers, the widows, and the empty chairs left behind when the lucky did not return. Her father was a scout who volunteered for one of those expeditions and never came back. Instead of accepting the village's mourning as the final answer, Arla began to learn from every tracker, guide, and salvager who would teach her. She practiced reading collapsed tunnels, measuring draughts of stale air, and following broken scrapes across stone and bone until she could navigate the dragon's twisted interior better than most people could walk a marketplace. As she grew, she attached herself to a rescue brigade, a rough-handed band of volunteer wardens who venture into the carcass not for glory, but to drag the lost home alive. Now Arla moves through ruin like a promise with boots on, stubborn enough to argue with fear and kind enough to do it twice. She knows that not every expedition ends in miracles, but she refuses to let that belief become an excuse for giving up. If there is a chance to find someone breathing, she will take it, even if it means breaking a rule, a lock, or a nobleman's patience to do so.
